Happy New Year's Eve, all. Some soap stars are celebrating in special ways. Nadia Bjorlin (ex Chole, Days of our Lives) is in Vegas. I did New Year's in Vegas once. It is cold there -- compared to LA at least. Our car died! Thank goodness for AAA.
One Life to Live's Kristen Alderson (Starr) is at the movies as I type. "I am seeing "New Year's Eve' on New Year's Eve. I'm cheesy ... and I'm proud of it lol," she just tweeted.
General Hospital's Steve Burton (Jason) tweeted, "Happy new years eve! Be safe and much luv. May all your dreams in 2012 come true!"
All My Children's JR Martinez (Dancing with the Star winner, 2011) is out shopping for his new baby. "On #LastDayof2011 had a great breakfast & just left from looking at baby stores for our registries. Damn there's a lot of stuff but exciting," while Ali Sweeney (Sami, Days of our Lives) couldn't be more delighted with her kids on the cover with her for Prevention Magazine's February issue.
General Hospital's Rick Springfield is offering a discount on his webstore merchandise. He just tweeted, "10% off everything in the store (including sale merchandise) through midnight tonight. Use coupon code 2011LAST..." Go to the Rick Springfield webstore here.
As the World Turn's Colleen Zenk posted this to her FB fans: "Happy New Year to all my family, friends and fans across the years and miles... may you all have a safe, happy and healthy new year...much love and thanks to you all for your support and faith.... here's to a year of change and new life!!! xoxo"
As for yours truly, @soapdom is about to head out to Palm Desert on #LastDayof2011. Happy New Year!

In the words of series creator, Gregori J. Martin, "it's our biggest webisode yet!" Not only that, Martin promises "much higher production values than the average daytime soap nowadays," and we gotta agree...
Don't miss the mid season finale of The Bay, the Series, airing now!
As the World Turns continues to air online at soapclassics! From the folks at the distribution company: "As our New Year's gift to you, please enjoy a free online New Year's Eve episode of As the World Turns from December 31, 1999!" Happy New Year everyone.

Soapdom couldn't be more delighted for General Hospital's Laura Wright whose dad recently underwent a 10-hr Whipple surgery to remove pancreatic cancer. "Dad's doing great," Wright tweeted after the surgery. She tweeted pretty much throughout the night during her dad's surgery, keeping fans apprised and thanking them for their thoughts and prayers. All My Children's Chrishell Strause guest stars on tonight's episode of Body of Proof. I will have to DVR it, as I've tickets to see Wicked in LA tonight, but I can't wait to watch Body of Proof when I get home after Wicked. In true soap girl BFF fashion, Melissa Claire Egan (ex Annie, All My Children), currently starring on The Young and the Restless), tweeted this morning: "Obviously you all MUST watch my girl Chrishell on "Body of Proof" tonight!!! 10 PM on ABC :)” Aww-yay!!!"

Cady McClain (Dixie, All My Children) is going scholarly with her soaps. She just purchased "The Survival of the Soap Opera," by Soapdom's own Sam Ford. (Ford blogged at Soapdom for about 18 months when he was studying media convergence at MIT a few years ago. His blogs are still available online at Soapdom.) Ford saw McClain's tweet about purchasing his book today, and he tweeted back: "Maybe we can get that Cabot Motors endorsement we'd hoped for@De_Kosnik."
As many of you may have heard, there are rumors flying that Bree Williamson (Jessica/Tess, One Life to Live), is headed to General Hospital. That's why she dyed her hair a darker color. Unfortunately, today Williamson tweeted that the rumors just ain't so. "...only person I'm 'in talks' with is my son about a diaper change... And the deal stinks."
All My Children's Dancing with the Stars wiinner, JR Martinez tweeted some words of wisdom this morning: "#random thought for #ladies .Just because a man brings the dough doesn't mean he should get the cookie. Make em respect it & work for it!!!"

More kudos in order for a former All My Children star. Denise Vasi (Randi) has just landed a role on the cable series, Single Ladies, on VH1. She will take over the leading lady duties, according to Deadline, as the former star, Stacey Dash left after the first season. You will see Vasi in the role of Rachel when Single Ladies premiers for season two in 2012.

Hey, pilot season is fast approaching, and with hopes of One Life to Live heading online dashed, actors are making lemonade from lemons. We wish Alderson the best.

Soapdom has a bone to pick with Days of our Lives Casey Deidrick (Chad). First of all, I will go on record saying we adore him. That's me, by the way, your very own Soapdom QueenRuler, sandwiched between Casey and Molly Burnett (Melanie) at the Brady Pub set in the photo at right. But I am a Gator. Yup. University of Florida all the way. And today, Casey dissed one of the Gator's most famous football heros, Tim Tebow. Deidrick tweeted: "Ha! Tebow is awful, sorry," in regard to today's Broncos/Vikings game. Them's fighting words, Casey Deidrick! And, guess what? Broncos won, thanks to Tebow coming through in the second half. When it counts, he matters! I am definitely going to have to straighten out Mr. Deidrick on this issue next time I see him! GO TEBOW!
