"Hey! It's a rough job, but somebody has to do it." That is how Nicky Schillace, head of the hair and makeup department at Days of our Lives, sums up his job. And what a job to have! One can only imagine what it is like to do hair and makeup on some of the most beautiful women like Deidre Hall (Marlena) or Kristian Alfonso (Hope), or those hot guys like James Scott (EJ) or Galen Gering (Rafe). Schillace has been with Days of our Lives for about nine months, and incidentally he is the real-life husband of Lauren Koslow (Kate). Oh yes! He whimpers that he never instructs her what to do with makeup, and why should he? She is a stunning natural beauty. |

It was a major shock in soapdom when after 72 years on the air CBS announced earlier this year that they were going to cancel Guiding Light. Lack of ratings was the reason, although they made the difficult decision with much regret.
Much to all of soapdom's chagrin, Guiding Light was canceled by CBS earlier this year. The 72-year old show -- the longest running program in broadcast history -- is now taping it's final episodes and will air into September.
Soapdom has just learned that wardrobe from Guiding Light will be donated to New York's Bottomless Closet. Bottomless Closet announced today that iconic soap opera, Guiding Light, is donating a portion of its wardrobe to help economically disadvantaged New York City women enter and succeed in the workforce.
