Guy Wilson (Will, Days of our Lives) said the upcoming 50th anniversary in November is something that is incredible in the industry, and that he is so proud to be able to say that he is part of the canvas.
"Oh without a doubt! You know shows come and go, but to be here for 50 years? You know something is right!" Wilson said. "For me personally, this is a great career opportunity and to be able to work with some of the greatest actors. And what a thrill to be on something with such staying power. I'm excited."
Wilson added that he was thrilled to see many longtime veteran actors' returning to the show for the 50th anniversary and said that seeing them and working with them has been an amazing experience. "It will be big!"
Wilson has been on Days of our Lives playing Will for a year and a half and said that he is proud and passionate of his story, after all, he made history on the show with the first gay male wedding. "I'm so thrilled to be doing this, and to be on a show that is willing to go out on the limb and present the story of everyday real life situations that many are facing, and I hope we were able to help in that respect."
Viewers to the show know that there is a major triangle between Will and Sonny (Freddie Smith), Paul (Christopher Sean), and Derrick (Spencer Neville).
Soapdom wants to know where is this triangle going? "Well I can tell you...it will play out to be very interesting. I believe that Sonny and Will are to be together forever, but like life there are bumps in the road and this will be a very interesting story. But like I said, Will and Sonny are the Super Couple."
Wilson said that being on a soap opera is something he has thought of since he was a little boy. "Oh Yea! I used to watch these shows at home as a kid. Of course, it is something that crossed my mind, and (laughing) here I am. I always enjoyed the thought of an adult story as a kid, and now I'm on the best show."
Wilson said that his day begins arriving at the studio, going through security, going to his dressing room, hair and make-up, blocking with the director, and then looking for his co-stars to run lines.
"It's a full day, but one that is challenging and fun,"Wilson said. "I will tell you Days made it to 50 years because of all the professional people that work this show. They do an unbelievable job."
Wilson shared that Days of our Lives is a "real family." He admitted that he became friends with his many co-stars and they hang out off the set, do barbeques, and support each other. An example he gave is they go to see Casey Moss (JJ) and his band (Eyes of One).
Intrigued by the show's 50 year history, Wilson added that he has done his research. "I have. With the history Days has I want to study it. I want to know how it got here. I have taken time to learn the history and the culture of the show."
Wilson holds the future of Days of our Lives to be "Nothing but bright." He said the goal of the show is to always keep the material fresh and new and the writers', producers, and staff are doing a fantastic job. Also, NBC is committed to the show in keeping it on the air.
Wilson said that the big 50th in November will be something of a lot of surprises and well worth watching. Of course it will! A show like Days of our Lives is known for intrigue, mystery, and drama, and that's why it made the Golden Anniversary.
