Soaps from a teen's point of view! Plus kid friendly recipes and a fun activity to share with your friends and family.

Kristin Alderson (Starr, One Life to Live)Welcome readers young and old to Soapdom’s newest column “Teen Scene” a weekly summer column devoted to the teens of daytime; covering the latest in their on screen lives/stories and sharing each week a new kid/teen friendly recipe that’s fun for summer and/or an activity or craft to keep your creative juices flowing while on vacation.

School’s out and Starr is going to spend the summer focusing on being pregnant at 16 years old on One Life to Live. She is having her doubts about wanting, and keeping, the baby but Cole is super excited about being a father. What will Starr do? And who will be there to support her no matter what she decides?

Looks like this could be the summer of love for Spinelli. The Spin-ster is smitten with Leyla after they have a fun evening at a wedding. Leyla, it appears is pretty impressed with her new friend, after he punches a guy in the face when he calls Leyla a terrorist. Michael is still in a coma making his mom Carly sad and angry, she still blames Michael’s dad for his shooting.

Spinelli and Leyla are coming together in a mix-matched love, but Lulu and Johnny may not be so happy in love if Claudia and Maxie get their way. Claudia offered Maxie $10,000 if she can seduce Johnny.

From GH to GL Daisy learns G is Cyrus’ little brother, she’s not happy about it, but she is starting to have feelings for her xbf. G is flirting with Ashley, Daisy’s BFF while Coop is out of town. Rafe is still on the run but some people in Springfield thinks he is still around.

Sage, Faith, and Natalie head for camp leaving their brothers behind. Parker decided he wanted to stay home to be closer to his friends, but really so he and Liberty can hang out; even though he acts like Liberty annoys him. Early in the week the Snyder family found out JJ was really sick and had been keeping how badly felt from Carly and Jack. Liberty is annoying her mom in addition to Parker, but they make up by the end of the week. Other Teen Scene news in Oakdale, Luke and Noah break up! Noah blames Luke for his father committing suicide and Amira being held by police in New York.

Speaking of Summer camp, Noah leaves Genoa City behind to go to camp, missing Father’s Day with Nick and his step-dad Jack. Luckily Summer had a gift for their dad from the both of them.

Lily, of Pine Valley, finds she is a babe in the world as she worries about going to college, not summer camp like many of our other daytime teens.

This week kicks off my summer vacation and to get ready for my family vacation I am making a vacation countdown calendar. Using whatever kind of colorful paper supplies and/or stickers I have lying around the house I am going to count off how many days from my last day of school until I leave for Disneyworld with my family. I’m going to use index cards with different Disney character stickers and colorful doodles and write a number on each card then stack them from highest to lowest, counting down. For me it will be 64 days, so I will make a card for each day numbered 1-64. With a single-hole punch I’m going to make a hole for hanging the cards on a hook. Punch one hole on each card, then unbend a large paperclip to make a hook. Slip all the cards onto the hook and attach to a decorated poster titled “Countdown to…………” Decorate your poster and hang it where the entire family can share in the countdown. Each day tear off the next card. If you have younger brothers and sisters make this a project you can all share in creating and enjoying.

The last day of school for me was also the weekend of Father’s Day so my recipe is going to be for my grandfather. I am going to make banana split s’mores. Using Oreo cookies scrape the cream from the center, gently without breaking your cookies. Place a slice of banana on one side then top with one square of a Hershey milk chocolate bar and two mini-marsh mellows, then top with other piece of cookie. You can make one or many by putting them together and placing them on a paper plate. Microwave for 30 seconds (longer if you are making multiple s’mores) and serve to your dad or grandfather. Make sure you make enough to share with the entire family because these are yummy!. For an extra special treat for your pops place your banana split s’mores on a scoop of vanilla or chocolate ice cream.
