Stars Take the Plunge!
Low Cut and High Brow, Divas Bust Out at the Daytime Emmys
Plunging necklines were the order of the day at the 31st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards held Friday, May 21, 2004 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Lots of heart exposed, along with a lot of flesh, as the beautiful and gorgeous ladies of the day strutted their stuff on the Red Carpet and in the Press Room.
Perhaps one of the most elegantly attired was OLTL's Heather Tom (Kelly), nominated in the Outstanding Leading Actress Category for her former role as Victoria on The Young and the Restless – a role that had bestowed an Emmy or two in the past. The gown, designed by Alexander McQueen, was stunning on her. Martin Katz decked her in jewels. Her shoes were Rene Caovilla and her hair was done by Christine at Prive. Louie Sibley made sure her face literally glowed. Spectacular! She posed just for Soapdom and to say hi to our members!
At the west coast ceremony for the Creative Craft Emmys held in LA on May 15, 2004, Soapdom caught up with Michelle Stafford (Phyllis, Y&R) who told us all about her attire for the Emmy broadcast. We learned that she’d be wearing Harry Winston earrings and that her dress, which “had a lot going on up top,” was gold and bronze and designed by LA-based, Eduardo Lucero. Click for more. Stafford took home the Emmy in the Outstanding Leading Actress category.
Record-breaking 3-time Daytime Emmy winner for Outstanding Supporting Actress, Jennifer Finnegan (ex Bridget, B&B) looked classically elegant in this ivory lace Randi Rahm gown. This was actually Jennifer Finnegan's second dress for evening. She wore this on the Emmy telecast. The lace was exquisitely embroidered with the bodice draped with 2 1/2 feet of fine white marquise diamonds. The value of the Randi Rahm dress is $125,000! The jewelry she wore was by Stefan Hafner. Shoes by Jimmy Choo.
From presenters, to stars in attendance to the show’s host, Daytime Emmy winner, Vanessa Marcil pictured at right, taking the plunge with necklines seemed to be the way to go with the fashion this year. One of Soapdom’s contributors, who does not usually cover soap opera events and had not met or seen many of the stars up close and personal before, provides a unique perspective to the event:
“Soap people are a real special breed,” she said. “Whooo some of them look like they have been around the block a few times and could use some freshening up. They look a bit wilted. Lisa Rinna (SoapTalk) had more lipstick on her face than lips! She was certainly a hot diva. Susan Lucci (Erica, AMC) must have the biggest face and smallest body in show business. They sure have a good life. I just found it all very entertaining.”
What did you think? Did your favorite star wow or look a little over the top as they busted out at the Daytime Emmys this year?
