Soaps have feminist messages according to Ebony Utley over at Ms. Blog (from Ms Magazine). Utley wrote a post on “Daytime Drama” where she stresses that there are important, yet often overlooked, feminist messages portrayed in Soap Operas.  According to Utley, “Despite their popularity, the soaps are too often wrongly dismissed as sex-filled drivel.  Feminists, in particular, should support the feminine values, diverse woman representation, social issues, and community promoted by daytime television’s fantasy worlds.”  Find out more.

Vincent Irizarry (David, AMC)A Message from AMC's Vincent Irizarry
All My Children's Vincent Irizarry (David) is dabbling in a new creative venture.  He is writing for print.  He's just completed his first published piece and shared the news with everyone on his Facebook Fan page. Here's what he had to say:

"Hello everyone, I'm excited to share something very special with you. I'm going to be published as a writer for the first time in an upcoming edition of Gladys Magazine! I've written an article, autobiographical in nature, about an event that happened to me as an 8 year-old-boy living in NYC during the week of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This event had such a profound effect on me, so much so, that after more than 40 years I had decided to put it to ink and paper. Would love to share it with all of you. Gladys is a beautiful and inspiring magazine, one which I'm proud to have my piece published in. Please read below to learn how you can obtain a copy of the magazine for yourself to enjoy. Blessings to you all... Vincent"

According to his FB page admins, "Gladys Magazine has published Irizarry's piece in a beautiful two-page spread, prefaced with a gorgeous full page photo and biography. The editor-in-chief has expressed how impressed she was at Vincent's writing, describing it as very thought-provoking, and that it was definitely something they wanted to showcase in their Summer issue. They are excited to feature Vincent and can't wait for him and all of you to see it! To read Vincent's article, don't miss out on getting your very own copy of the Summer 2010 issue! Cost per magazine issue is $9.99 (mailed to your door) which you will receive on July 1st, the release date! To place your pre-order and be the first to receive a printed edition copy, go to:
