Big couple news! Mallet and Marina are an item and Bill and Ava are engaged.

 

I am left to assume Guiding Light feels we as viewers didn’t get enough off Cassie’s hysterics last summer, so we are going to endure another long summer of her accusing anyone and everyone of doing something wrong while sniveling and crying hysterically. Behavior like that was what prompted the Salem Witch trials, and I can understand why now, who wants to listen to that madness.

I am quite surprised to see G’s return and what looks like will be the biggest story line of the summer. I have a feeling that G is going to become a poor knock-off of Jonathan when he first came to Springfield. If that is the case I say boooo! You don’t mess with a good thing and GL hit perfection casting Tom Pelphrey in the role of Jonathan, trying to recreate that is a mistake.

For the record G is not hot, he looks more like he could have fallen off the circus train while it was passing through Springfield. So who is G going for Daisy, Ashley, or Dinah? Is there some kind of town rule that every new man between the ages of 18 and 40 must sleep with Dinah before they can begin terrorizing everyone else in town? I can only assume, considering Dinah was G’s first stop and there is sexual tension between them. I did find it amusing the photo of Dinah, G was staring at earlier in the week was a promo shot for the show that I have seen in magazines and websites. I have noticed this trend or use of head shots on other soaps as well.

Dinah’s tactics and role in the take-over of the Spaulding’s life is childish. I love Dinah and hate to see her evilness wasted. I even like Dinah when she is good, but in the state she is in now I’m not digging her too much. There is so much potential for this storyline and I love seeing Dinah powerful and rich. What happened to Dinah and Lizzie’s friendship? They were roomies not too long ago. This would have gotten off to a much better start had Dinah and Lizzie teamed to show Alan that Liz could do it, rather than Dinah and Bill, which really makes no sense. What’s it to Dinah or Bill? Maybe I missed something somewhere along the way; but the passion they are putting into this takeover, making it personal rather than business is coming out of no where.

Is Bill going to just accept that Ava’s baby is his without a paternity test? If so he deserves whatever the little witch throws at him. I hope she makes his life hell.  For now Bill is setting himself up as not just a doting father but husband as well. Bill proposed to Ava at Dinah's housewarming party just after sharing a passionate kiss with Lizzie in the garden. I’d love to see Ava go all rabbit-cooker on Bill, that would be a way of kicking up the drama and it has been a while since GL has had a stalker. I still make the comparison of Ava and Jade from ATWT, and want so badly for Ava to make an exit from the show just as Jade did, unless the writers turn her crazy.

I hate that Reva is cozying up to Ava. Reva is Lizzie’s friend and this is so traitorous to Lizzie. Reva owes Lizzie her loyalty, considering Lizzie is the reason Jonathan and Sarah are safe and Reva can go visit when she wants.

What is with Mallet? He is everywhere and that uniform just doesn’t look right on him. I think wardrobe is trying to fit Mallet into Gus’ old uniform. I hope he goes back to being a detective soon because he is annoying me and all of Springfield just popping up everywhere. I’m glad to see Mallet and Marina have finally hooked up since that has been building for years; but I do not like them as a couple. I personally was rooting for reconciliation between Mallet and Dinah.

I feel I need to address the new format once again because the improvements they are making on sound and picture are effecting content. The show moves so slowly now I find myself getting bored.
