Vincent Irizarry joined the cast of “All My Children” in 1997 as the devious Dr. David Hayward. His 2002 Emmy nominated portrayal was originally scheduled to last only three months, but favorable fan response encouraged producers to bring him back for the long term. “I don’t want him to become a goody-goody overnight,” Irizarry notes. “But I do see value in a character that’s multidimensional.”
Irizarry studied music at Berklee College in Boston. It was there that he fell in love with acting while performing in various theatre productions. He then decided to move to New York where he won a scholarship with the late Lee Strasberg at his Theater Institute. His first acting job came on the Off-Broadway stage at the New York Shakespeare Festival. In television, Irizarry was a favorite on “Guiding Light” where he earned a Daytime Emmy nomination. He later moved to “Santa Barbara” and has guest starred in many primetime television series, such as “Beverly Hills 90210” and “LA Law.” Other notable acting credits include the lead role in Jackie Collins’ mini series “Lucky Chances” and starring in “Heartbreak Ridge” with Clint Eastwood. In addition, Irizarry realized a life-long dream of his by performing as a soloist with the Orchestre de Lyon, France.
Irizarry resides in Manhattan with his wife Avalon, their daughter Aria and son Elias. He also has a daughter, Siena, whom he shares custody with his ex-wife, actress Signy Coleman.
