Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott, The Young and the Restless)Don't know about you, but I can't imagine doing anything consecutively for 25 years, let alone maintain the top spot consistently.

Well, my friends, The Young and the Restless has held the number one position in daytime drama since December 1988. That's 25 years and going strong.

What do you suppose makes the Young and the Restless must see daytime TV? Is it the production values? The story telling? The actors? The predicaments of the characters? Chemistry of the actors. Writing to the audience, not at them?

Or is it a combination of all of those things?

Whatever it is, the Young and the Restless reached 1,352 consecutive weeks as the #1 rated daytime drama series against regular scheduled programming, according to Nielsen ratings for the week ending November 28, 2014.

That is just amazing. No bones about it.

Soapdom was hoping to chat with a few of the powers that be over at Y&R before the holiday break, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. So, soon as we all get back down to work after the holidays, you can be sure that we will be on the case tracking down folks at Y&R to get their take on what's keeping their show in the top spot for all these years.

In the meantime, Soapdom would like to congratulate the Young and the Restless for reaching this amazing milestone. Whoot whoot!

Days of our Lives Robert Scott Wilson says playing Ben is a blast

Robert Scott Wilson (Ben Rodgers, Days of our Lives), has a plan in motion, and that is, he hopes to stay in Salem and continue in the role that he loves.

"Without out a doubt, I want to be around. I'm having a blast playing him," Wilson said. "The character of Ben has a lot to offer. I trust the writers' who are doing a fantastic job. I love being able to take Ben in different directions. There is more to him than tending bar, or meets the eye."
