Robert Scott Wilson (Ben Rodgers, Days of our Lives), has a plan in motion, and that is, he hopes to stay in Salem and continue in the role that he loves.
"Without out a doubt, I want to be around. I'm having a blast playing him," Wilson said. "The character of Ben has a lot to offer. I trust the writers' who are doing a fantastic job. I love being able to take Ben in different directions. There is more to him than tending bar, or meets the eye."
Wilson has been playing the role for about eight months, four on the air because of Days far advance shooting schedule. He took over the role previously played by Justin Gaston, and has never looked back.
"I also love the fact that there is a lot of creative control. I've learned about him. I can say that he has a past and I'm learning so much more about him," Wilson added.
Wilson previously played Peter Cortlandt on The OnLine Network's stab at All My Children, and can proudly boast being the first male model on The Price is Right.
Soapdom needs to know how did that come about and what was it like? "Well!" he said laughing, "there was a national casting call and I was sent and got picked. I went for a pre-interview with about 26 other guys and it was narrowed to three. And it was America that voted for me. I was thrilled and shocked, and yes! It was wonderful there, and the models are a great bunch of gals."
Wilson also said that doing The Price is Right is completely different than doing Days. He explained that on the game show he was himself with an audience, and on Days it is creating something, and that is what he "loves" about being on the soap.
Wilson considers himself an actor/model has been active in the business. He appeared in the series The Secret Life of the American Teenager and The Middle. He appeared on Melissa and Joey and Make it or Break It to name a few. He was in the music video for Victoria Justice, Toni Braxton, and David Guetta. He was also in the feature film Friends with Benefits and The Social Network to name a few.
Wilson was on Christmas break back home with his family in Massachusetts when he learned he landed the role of Ben. "It was very strange. Lisa de Cazotte, (executive producer) was familiar with me and my work, I auditioned and here I am. I must tell you again...I'm thrilled and so happy to be a part of this great show."
Wilson said his first day on the set was memorable. The cast was welcoming and everyone was just great. He added that working with Chrishell Stause (Jordam/Tammy Sue) and Kate Mansi (Abbey) has just been wonderful. He is living in the moment and is enjoying the journey.
Wilson has a message to his fans that he is grateful and receptive to his character. "I thank you all. I also want to tell you that there is more to Ben that he wants you to know. He is complex and all I can say is the best is yet to come."
Away from the set he keeps in shape training and loves to play basketball to pass the time. He is a firm believer in eating healthy, but he also noted that he does everything in moderation.
