Hi Suds Buds:
It’s hard to believe but the summer is over. Kids are back at school and before we know it, we’ll be into the Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas season. It’s true what they say. Time flies.
That is -- time flies in real life. In soapdom it can sometimes drag on and on and on and on and on and – you get the drift. However, with summer winding down, and some shifting in head writers, many of our soaps are speeding up the pace and delving into murder mysteries and other such mahem.
Take Days of our Lives. With the return of James E. Reilly to the helm, there will be a rash of serial killings. Some major characters will bite the bullet. The internet has been abuzz with tales of who is the next to go in the serial killings spree storyline. (We are happy to report, however, that internet rumors of Drake Hogestyn (John, DOOL) being killed off were started by some mischievious poster on some message board are totally fabricated. See Soapdom’s Suds Buzz for the official word on this from Days of our Lives.
On As the World Turns, Simon isn’t dead. He’s alive! But he could end up dead if Mordecai catches up with him. Which reminds me, Katie and Mike will witness a murder today! Who is biting the dust?
Over at All My Children there is a rash of mystery and intrigue regarding the whereabouts of Michael Cambias. So many people hate that guy. So many have vowed vengeance on him. So many have it in their means to do away with him. Have they? If so, who is the alleged perpetrator? No one is above suspicion.
I don’t know about you, but along with the proverbial “love in the afternoon,” I enjoy a little mystery and intrigue in my soaps. It shows another side of the characters we either 1) may have never seen before or 2) haven’t seen in a while. Like Tad on AMC is going back to his Private Investigator roots. That’s kind of fun.
Do you only want to see romance, lust and idle groping of soaps ladyfolk by buffed bare-chested men (not that there’s anything wrong with that!), or do you you enjoy a little more intrigue to the story? Let us know on the Criticize the Critic message board.
Adminsitrative Notice
Soapdom is nearing server capacity. We need to purge some of the older message board threads that are just taking up space on the site to make way for new, more current topics of discussion. The two most prolific boards, Passions and Days of Our Lives will be affected and will be pared down quite a bit.
If you are a fan of DOOL and Passions and have been posting on those boards for a long time, there may be some threads you’d like to keep around. If that’s the case, please take a trip down memory lane and pull up threads of interest. Make them current by posting within the thread. We are aiming for the board purge to take place the weekend of September 13-14, 2003 so you have a few days to find threads of interest that you want to save.
