Hi Suds Buds:
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! If you’re into wearing o’ the green, be sure to check into SoapNet today, March 17, 2003, for the Ryan’s Hope Marathon, then sit back and reminisce with SoapCenter’s Tanika Ray and stars of Ryan’s Hope as they relive their time on the show. But remember, moderation’s the keyword when it comes to imbibing that green beer!
Don’t know about you, but I am awed lately by some of the major casting coups daytime is scoring. For example, Lesley-Anne Down and Jack Wagner will soon be making waves on the Bold and the Beautiful – “making waves” pun intended. Wagner’s character is a ship captain who enters upon the canvas when he saves the day during trouble on the high seas. If you check in with our B&B Spring Previews you’ll see that Wagner’s character, named Dominick, has something to do with Massimo. Could it be that Massimo is his employer? Or maybe, Massimo is Dominick’s competition, perhaps? Either way, things will definitely heat up at B&B when Wagner and Down arrive in town. Stay tuned.
Over at Guiding Light, John James (ex Jeff Colby, Dynasty) is making his way to Springfield. (See Soapdom’s Casting for more info.) Here’s the thing: I loved John James as Jeff Colby. He was such a hottie. Not ashamed to admit that I had a major school-girl crush on Mr. James back then. Hubba. And now, he’s on his way to Springfield as a contract player. I gotta tell you, I can’t wait to see him now. I am guessing that he’s matured into quite the distinguished older guy. You and I will both find out when we tune into Guiding Light in late April.
Speaking of dashing ex Dynasty actors, fans of All My Children are still clamoring for the return of Count Dimitri Marick as played by Michael Nader (ex Dex Dexter, Dynasty). As you may know, Nader got into some trouble with the law when he was picked up on drug possession charges several years ago. He is now bringing a court case against ABC for allegedly wrongfully dismissing him. Elaine Flores, Soap Opera Digest’s AMC editor, has written a piece on Nader’s situation in this week’s SOD. The article has again caused fans of Nader to write Soapdom with their continued support of the actor. (See “Your Letters.”) Soapdom will continue to follow this breaking story. We also wish Nader the best with his continued recovery.
