Make Your Own Bauer Burgers
How the OLTL Tradition Began
The Soapdom News Update

Hi Suds Buds:

I hope you all enjoyed your 3-day 4th of July weekend.  Did you get to see any fireworks? Spend quality time with family and friends over a summertime BBQ?

On some of the soaps last week we were treated to some fun 4th of July festivities. My favorites:

One Life to Live continued it’s rather new tradition of a special 4th of July episode (for those of you who may have missed it, we are running a rather detailed recap in the One Life to Live daily episode guide for July 4, 2003), and it was another Bauer 4th of July BBQ on Guiding Light.  Did you get a chance to try the original Bauer BBQ Burger?  We’ve got the recipe!  Try them at your next summer BBQ!  And thanks to Guiding Light and Sunni for this contribution.  It ran last week in The Soapdom News.

1. Get 2 lbs of ground sirloin, then mix in some
garlic, pepper, salt and 3 teaspoons of
Worcestershire sauce.

2. Make an even number of thin hamburger patties.
(Be sure to make them very thin.)

3. Chop up some onion and put it on top of the
first patty. Then put a slice of American or
mozzarella cheese on top. Grill some mushrooms
and put them on top of the cheese.
Cover the whole thing with another patty.

4. Using a fork press down the edges
of the patties so they are sealed

5. Barbecue the double patties over a low
flame until done. It takes more time to
cook due to the thickness of the patties.

Speaking of the Soapdom News, we are beginning to run the newsletter every week. However, last week, we experienced a glitch in our software and not everyone received it – including me!  Our programmers are on the case and as we speak.  They are troubleshooting the problem.  It may take some time, however, but we will get it all squared away, and then get back in gear sending you a newsy newsletter every week.

Some of the features of the new and improved Soapdom News include features and stories of interest at www.Soapdom.com, PLUS --  sneak previews for all ten U.S. soaps, along with juicy tidbits contributed by Soapdom Newsletter Assistant Editor, Sunni!  If you are a registered member and have not agreed to accept email from us, you may want to reconsider. To do so, just log in from the home page and find the “member profile” tab on the left. (You will only see the member profile tab after log in.)  Click on member profile and then open “edit profile settings.”  Scroll to the bottom and check the “accepts email” box.

For first time visitors who want to get the Soapdom News, register for free or subscribe to all access Soapdom for pennies a day, and check the “accepts email” box when you sign up.

Speaking of One Life to Live’s 4th of July tradition, we have a call into the spokesperson for the show to find out just how the tradition got started three years ago. Stay tuned!

Past Blast

Days of our Lives: Lauren Koslow loves feeding the animals

"Just call me farm girl," is how Lauren Koslow, (Kate, Days of our Lives), describes her time away from the set.

"I live on a farm on the outskirts of town. I have a long commute to the studio, but I love living on the farm," Koslow said "You can not beat the tranquility and the stress level is low. My home is complete with farm animals (horses, chickens, goats) that I actually feed, and I grow vegetables. I also want to add that my list of animals is growing, and I do live in paradise."

Koslow has been playing the vivacious and vindictive Kate Roberts/DiMeara since 1996 and said that she is quite the opposite of her character. First she said that playing Kate, whom she calls a "Bad ass" type, is usually reserved for guys, but she loves tackling the part, especially she said, when going up against Stefano (Joseph Mascolo).
