Dear Suds Buds:
As thousands of you noticed, Turtle-Run did not update Sneak Peeks, many episode guides or the Top of the Week for the last week or so. The TRO website remained up and running for message posts, but our offices were offline for over a week. Long story. Bottom line. We were disconnected. Like I always say, technology is grand except when it doesn't work!
As I write this column, we are only still on a dial-up line (painfully slow especially when you are used to a broadband connection). We are hoping to be back up and running at full broadband connection speed and convenience sometime this very week. As we were unable to connect at all for close to 8 days, we were unable to get fresh content online. Many, many, many of you wrote wondering what was up. Thank you all for your concern and kind comments about our content. As we have received thousands of emails, it's unlikely I will get to personally answer everyone, but will try to respond to as many letters as possible. Give me about a week! If you don't hear from me personally, know that I did receive your email, appreciate the fact that you took the time to write, and look forward to communicating with you again one-to-one in the near future!
Now -- on with the latest in the world of soaps!
Some People Call It Working Without a Net. ABC Daytime Calls It Daytime Drama -- "One Life To Live Live!"
We've heard all the hype. We've seen all the promos. Well, get ready for an amazing week of daytime in Llanview. May 13-17 is one week of "Life" you don't want to miss and it starts today! Here's what you have to look forward to!
Two people will tie the knot, a location shoot, a love scene, a big secret revealed and much more... It's all live on ABC Daytime's "One Life to Live Live!," MAY 13-17. The Bioré(r) brand has signed on to be the presenting sponsor of this unprecedented week of television when "One Life to Live" will air live from its New York-based studio, as well as New York City's famous Central Park. OLTL will be the first one-hour drama in television history to air live for an entire week.
OLTL executive producer Gary Tomlin, who conceived of the idea, said, "Each of the 30 contract cast members will appear during the week. Production has not been pared down to take on the challenge of the live shows; in fact we've made it even more ambitious. In addition to a love scene, we will feed in a remote shoot from nearby Central Park."
Among the exciting stories this week will be the long-awaited moment when Blair (Kassie DePaiva) finally learns the truth about the terrible secret her husband Todd (Roger Howarth) has been keeping. Anything can happen when a show that usually takes an entire production day to shoot will air live in just one hour.
This exciting week of television will culminate with the Daytime Emmy Awards on May 17, for which "One Life to Live" is nominated for Outstanding Drama Series.
"One Life to Live," created by Agnes Nixon, was launched July 15, 1968. Gary Tomlin executive-produces and Lorraine Broderick and Chris Whitesell are the headwriters. For many moons AMC fans have been clamoring for the return of Maria Santos Grey, played by Eva LaRue Callahan. Their prayers have been answered when Eva LaRue Callahan returns to PineValley in the very near future. It's not clear if she will play Maria or a new character. Evil twin? Long lost identical cousin? Either way, fans are happy to have her back. One fan requests showing support to Eva's return by participating in a petition of appreciation. Ayelet tells you all about it right here!
"I started a petition for Eva a while ago, wanting to bring her back to AMC. Before I could even send it to TPTB, the great news of her return was revealed at http://www.soapsindepth.com. "Well, I decided to change the form of the petition. Instead of asking All My Children and ABC to bring Eva back, let's leave our comments to show this wonderful actress our appreciation of her, and how happy we are to have her back on our soap! I will send this to her once enough people have signed. Please visit http://www.petitiononline.com/amc4elc/petition.html and click on "sign the petition" to leave your comments.
