New Head Writer, Ellen Weston, Comes on Board
The multi-talented writer/producer, Ellen Weston, has been named Headwriter of Guiding Light effective January 6, 2003, it was announced today by Mary Alice Dwyer-Dobbin, Executive in Charge of Production for Procter & Gamble Productions, Inc. As previously reported at www.Soapdom.com (see Breaking News, 12/2/02), John Conboy is the show’s new Executive Producer.
“I am delighted to have Ellen lead our already strong writing team,” said Dwyer-Dobbin upon making the announcement. “She is a gifted writer with a broad range of experience in daytime and primetime, as well as in mini-series and movies-of-the-week. Ellen’s strong creative sensibilities, combined with her knack for telling powerful stories, will provide viewers with exciting drama and character developments.”
The new executive producer, John Conboy, is likewise pleased at landing Weston. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Ellen again,” he said. “She is a creative and enthusiastic talent whom I’m certain will spin exciting stories that will both delight and intrigue the audience.”
Weston’s extensive background in television includes writing for the daytime drama Capitol. She also produced and wrote numerous primetime mini-series and MOWs including: And the Beat Goes On: The Sonny and Cher Story (ABC); Holiday in Your Heart (ABC); Outrage (ABC); Sleeping with the Devil (CBS); See Jan Run (ABC); Lies Before Kisses (CBS); and, Shadow of Obsession (NBC).
In addition to her television credits, Weston has written lyrics fro two albums as well as for the Broadway musical, Josephine, based on the life of the legendary Josephine Baker, slated for the 2003-2004 Broadway season. She is also an accomplished actress having appeared on Broadway and in numerous television series including: Wonder Woman; Bewitched; and Get Smart. Weston also worked as an actress on Guiding Light (Robin Lang Holden Bauer Bowen Fletcher), and also appeared on Another World and The Young and the Restless.
