THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL WELCOMES BACK THE MEANEST WOMAN IN THE WORLD
Kimberlin Brown is making life miserable again on THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL. Not for the fans, but for the characters in the popular CBS daytime drama who she is now on the verge of plunging into a whirlwind of fear, danger and agony over the next few weeks.
Brown portrays Sheila Carter, a manipulative, instinctively dishonest character who is the nemesis of virtually every character on the show and is often considered the scariest woman on television.
Brown originated the character of Sheila on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, also a CBS daytime series, in 1990, and moved her intact to THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL in 1992. After being gone from THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL for several years, she returned early this summer, and has been quietly stewing and plotting a few schemes in the background.
It's all coming to a boil.
"She's about to jump with both feet directly into the lives of three of our top characters, Amber (Adrienne Frantz), Brooke (Kathryn Kelly Lang) and Taylor (Hunter Tylo)," reveals Brad Bell, executive producer/head writer of the hit daytime series. "What happens will have a profound impact on the series for years to come. It's possible that not all of these characters will survive."
"Oh, it's good to bad," Sheila once reflected about her philosophy in a life in which she has poisoned, seduced, shot, lied to, kidnapped and threatened numerous other characters.
"You messed with the wrong mama," she cooed recently to one co-star. She was more blunt to another, telling him, "I'm going to slice off your Adam's apple and have it for breakfast!"
Currently, Sheila's daughter Erica (Courtnee Draper) has a crush on the already-married Rick Forrester (Justin Torkildsen). Sheila is urging her on, telling Erica how to come between Rick and his wife, Amber (Adrienne Frantz). To help matters along, Sheila hired a gigolo to drug Amber and trick her into thinking she had slept with him.
"Everything I missed out on, my daughter's going to have," Sheila coolly reflected. She later conceded, "I haven't always been the perfect mother."
Observes Brown, who relishes the dramatic opportunities Sheila presents her, "Despite all of the terrible things she does, there is a sincerity about her that is appealing. In her own way, she truly believes she is doing the right thing."
Critics appreciate Sheila as well. Brown has been nominated as Outstanding Villainess by the Soap Opera Digest Awards five times and won the award in 1992 and 1994. She was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award as Outstanding Supporting Actress in 1992.
Brown has also appeared on daytime television as Rachel Locke in "Port Charles," Shelly Clark in "Another World" and Candace Durrell in "Santa Barbara." She guest-starred in such primetime series as "Diagnosis Murder," on CBS, "Adam 12," "Dragnet," "T.J. Hooker" and "Fantasy Island."
Kimberlin was born in Hayward, Calif. She first wanted to be an architect, then went into modeling before concentrating on acting. She is married and has two children.
