Although several published reports have Cady McClain (Rosanna) exiting As the World Turns in the new year as the soap struggles with budget cuts, ATWT's executive producer Christopher Goutman says otherwise. "As far as the show is concerned, Cady is and will continue to be a valued cast member of As the World Turns," he states. "Cady has brought her incredible talent to her portrayal of Rosanna.... her character is definitely part of future story plans. Oakdale has not seen the last of them — not by a long shot!" Setside sources say that McClain will take some time off from the series, but will return... (Contributed by Sunni)
In other ATWT news: The fledgling romance of Katie (Terri Colombino) and Mike (Mark Collier) is about to face its toughest challenge yet -- the return of Simon (Paul Leyden)! What are things going to be like for Simon and Katie this time around? Watch As the World Turns starting Monday, Jan. 19 and find out what Simon's got planned. (Contributed by Sunni)
John Ingle may have lost his gig as feisty Edward Quartermaine on General Hospital, but the actor hasn't lost his sense of humor. Notified on his 49th wedding anniversary that he'd be leaving the soap after a decade, Ingle replied, "Thank you for the present. Is there an exchange policy where I can take it back and get something I like a little better?"
Ingle had been expecting a cut in his airtime in 2004, but hadn't prepared for a permanent exit. "I was stunned," he admits candidly. "I cannot figure out the rationale." But Ingle is bouncing back. He'll continue to voice the Land Before Time series, and will turn his attention to primetime and films. "I love sitcoms; I used to do those all the time," he recalls. And he may consider a return to his former profession: teaching. "I love to work with actors," Ingle says. The accomplished thespian does have one holiday request from GH as they devise his exit. "[Edward] and Lila should go on a long voyage, or he should step in the shower like Bobby Ewing did on Dallas and be gone for a year," he suggests.
And he's counting on the spirit of the season to bring a little good cheer back into his life. "Whatever God we deal with, if this is my life's plan, then it is."
Even though it does look like Ingle is on his way out from GH, Soapdom thinks there may be more news regarding Ingle and the soap coming soon. Could producers be rethinking the pink slip? Stay tuned. More on John Ingle (Contributed by Sunni and LMS)

Guiding Light has debunked rumors regarding the firing of executive producer Jon Conboy. "Procter & Gamble, CBS and I agree that my work on Guiding Light is not finished," declares Conboy in an official statement. "I look forward to continuing our incredible partnership and all the terrific stories we have yet to tell." Conboy, who started on the show a year ago, was initially signed to a one-year contract, which may have steamed the speculation. (Contributed by Sunni)

According to the LA Times, Sunday, December 7, 2003, Galen Gering (Luis, PAS) and his beautiful wife Jenna, have purchased a home in Santa Monica, CA. The asking price was $1.4 million. They paid just about asking. The house is not a huge estate. It was priced based on the current real estate market in Los Angeles, where a 1200 sq. ft., 2 bedroom condo with 2 baths sells for over half a million, so keep the price tag in perspective.
The new Gering residence is a one-story Spanish home with arched ceilings and French doors. The house was built in 1926 and has three bedrooms with 2200 sq. ft. of living space. There is also a service porch and an office. The eat-in kitchen has hand painted Italian tiles. The property has a large grassy yard and a spa. The home sounds quaint and charming. Congrats to the Gerings on their new home! (Contributed by LMS)

On Tuesday, November 18, 2003 Julia Roberts appeared on The Oprah Show to promote her new film, "Mona Lisa Smile." During the show, Oprah got the the A-list movie star to again admit that she is a major fan of Days of our Lives. Roberts went on to note that the new flower stand at Salem Place is called "Julia's Flowers," and "not that the world revolves around me," she giggled, "but I think that the flower stand is named for me!"
So what does Days of our Lives have to say about Julia's assumption? "We are thrilled that Julia Roberts continues to be such an outspoken fan of our show!' the spokesperson from Days tells Soapdom. "Indeed the flower cart located in Salem Place is named 'Julia’s' – coincidence or not, we often subtly pay homage to past show participants, our own history and at times, if possible, our faithful fans. It takes time for them to get used to the change. Just how hip will the new theme be? We'll have to wait and see.

On Days of our Lives, rumor has it that Patsy Peace (ex-Kimberly), who returns for a few episodes this month, is trying to get a contract. As for the murder storyline...it will get even more interesting when some former cast members show up.
In more Days news, Patsy Pease will once again assume the role of Kimberly Brady, though the circumstances surrounding her character's return are far from happy. "Kimberly returns home for a family funeral," Pease previews. A simple phone call brought the actress back to the soap. "Even if I had been busy, I would have stopped what I was doing to make an appearance." Off the screen, Pease has taken on the role of teacher. She currently trains stage performers to make the transition to the TV studio. "I've seen so many people get fired after their first day because they just don't know how to navigate themselves in front of the camera," she explains. "As I teach, I learn. It helps me keep my own acting skills sharp and focused." Even with a few coveted days on the Days set, Pease didn't uncover its biggest mystery. "No one knows who the serial killer is," she laments. Could the answer be in the mirror? "I hope not," Pease chuckles. "Unless Kimberly reveals a fourth personality — she already has three alters — and could be cured." Callahan is not in contract negotiations, but his character has been on the backburner, which may have fueled the exit rumors. "Peaks and valleys in storylines are a natural occurrence. Fans who attend the show during Alexander's run — he's signed a six-month contract — will get to see more of the actor than they ever bargained for. Danielle joined the cast in 2001 as Jessica Griffin and Duncan McKechnie's headstrong daughter. After discovering her regal birthright, she dated Isaac Jenkins and held a personal vendetta against Marshall Travers, who sexually assaulted her mother. Danielle's exit would come on the heels of several other African-American actors recently released from the ATWT canvas. Paul Taylor (ex-Isaac) learned of his exit in August, and Lamman Rucker (Marshall) taped his final scenes last week. A spokesperson for the show offered no comment on the possibility of a departure. On All My Children, Buzz hears that Walt Willey (Jackson) is talking about making a movie. Not only will he star in it, he will produce it, too! Stay tuned.
Speaking of AMC, rumor has it that a veteran actress was asked to take a pay cut, and it didn't go well. Could it be Susan Lucci?
Over at As the World Turns, Rumor has it that the show is casting a new love interest for Rose (Martha Byrne) that will sweep her off her feet. But what about Holden (Jon Hensely?)
At Days of our Lives, Buzz hears that the role of Eric, last played by Jensen Ackles will be recast. That makes sense. Look for references to Eric to begin airing on the show next week. Good news: no more cuts at least not yet. Although rumor has it that Alexis Thorpe (Cassie) has just been given her walking papers. A spokesperson for the show had no comment.
While over at Young and the Restless, Buzz hears that Eileen Davidson (Ashley) was spotted talking to the competition. Is she getting restless?

DOOL's Peggy McCay Out?
Buzz on the internet has been speculating for weeks now that Days of our Lives star Peggy McCay (Caroline Brady) would be the next to get the ax. Looks like that may be true. Days of Our Lives hasn't stopped handing out the pink slips, and according to sources, longtime Days actress Peggy McCay is the next actor to be ousted from the show.
McCay first joined Days in 1983. As Brady matriarch Caroline, McCay's onscreen counterpart caused quite a stir when viewers learned that her son Bo was the result of Caroline's affair with evil Victor Kiriakias. But of late, McCay has been on the back burner for as long as we can tell. NBC hasn't even produced a current publicity head shot. At least, we don't have one on file.
With no story looming in the near future, McCay is part of a growing list of veteran actors who have been on the DOOL chopping block. At least three more actors are expected to be cut as well. Who's next?
A Days spokesperson offered no comment on the news of McCay's dismissal. (Contributed by Sunni and LMS)

Marston's rep would neither confirm nor deny that the actor is in talks for a return engagement. An OLTL rep would only state that no decisions have been made. (Contributed by Sunni)

ABC Casting Rumors
More rumors have Rebecca Staab (Elizabeth, Port Charles) going to All My Children to play the role of Krystal. When asked about it, the actress shrugged, "I know, I hear the same one. In all honesty, I really don't know. I am on hold for a new WB series. I've been waiting to go on some other stuff now that summer is over."
Speaking of AMC, Henry Chin (Ivan) made his exit from the show on Sept. 2. Rumored to be making a dramatic exit from General Hospital during November sweeps is Stephen Nichols, who reprised his role as General Hospital's Stefan Cassadine in June. Nichols (ex-Patch, Days of our Lives) may not be the only ex-Salem resident on GH who's on his way out. No truth to the rumor that an ex- "Days" star is joining the cast.
Across NYC on As the World Turns, look for a big change in the next few weeks, but it will be behind the scenes. Plus, rumor has it that Jon Hensley (Holden) is getting disgusted. Could it be because he's never on? Um?

Big News at All My Children. Buzz hears that a country singing sensation might pay a visit to Pine Valley. Who and what for? Stay Tuned. What's more -- Look for some VERY interesting storylines to surface this fall with a lot of twists.
Over at As the World Turns, Buzz has learned that since Paul Taylor (Issac) received his walking papers more are to be handed out. And word is that Elizabeth Hubbard (Lucinda) is fed up that her role is going nowhere. Too bad, but there is no truth to the rumor that Jason Biggs (ex-Pete) and star of "American Wedding" is returning in a cameo.
While in Salem on Days of our Lives, the Buzz is that the show wants to ressurect the Horton family by bringing back Bill, Marie, and Mike. Could be interesting.

In a surprising casting decision, Nathaniel Marston (Al Holden) has been released from One Life to Live. Marston first joined OLTL in November 2001, assuming the role of Max and Gabrielle's teenage son from daytime newcomer Michael Tipps. Martson and co-star Kathy Brier (Marcie Walsh) had garnered positive feedback from viewers with their blossoming romance, becoming one of the show's most popular couples in years and some fans are already questioning how the show could purposely ruin a good thing.
Prior to joining One Life to Live, Marston had previously appeared on CBS's As The World Turns in the role of Eddie Silva (1998 to 2000.) Following his stint on As The World Turns, Marston had a brief run-in with the law. In January of 2000, Marston was ordered to pay a $750 fine to Chase Manhattan Bank for abusing an ATM machine.
According to a spokesperson for the show, Marston's released was "storyline dictated." The spokesperson declined to comment on whether or not the role of Al would be recast in the future.
From personal experience we can say that at the recent Super Soap Weekends West at Disney's California Adventure, the lines for Marston's autograph booth were very short. Although he looked quite the dapper gent in his cool hat and shades, he didn't seem to be attracting much of a crowd. This type of lackluster fan response is not lost on the network.
As for Marston's co-star, she urrently appears as the standby for Tracy Turnblad in the hit Broadway musical Hairspray, and is in negotiations to take over the role full-time upon Tony winner Marissa Jaret Winokur's departure. However, it would not appear that Brier is going anywhere any time soon as Timothy Adams (Casey, Sunset Beach) will appear as one of Marcie's older brothers, Ron, beginning August 4th. No final airdate was available for Marston. (Contributed by Sunni and LMS).

We will just have to stay tuned to OLTL and see what happens!
Rumor has it that at All My Children many casting calls have been put out for a lot of different roles. Does that mean more vets will be axed? Stay tuned.
Good news for Bold and the Beautiful fans. There is no truth to the rumor that Joseph Mascolo (Massimo) is planning on leaving.
