From B&B to GH!
The rumors are confirmed. After months of "talks," Jacob Young (ex Rick, B&B) will join the cast of General Hospital in the role of Lucky Spencer. The official announcement came down from Angela Shapiro, president, ABC Daytime on Tuesday, February 2, 2000.
The character of Lucky Spencer was presumed to have died in April 1999, an event that totally devastated his parents Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis). It left his soulmate, Liz Webber (Rebecca Herbst), completely heartbroken, his friends at a loss, and many a teary-eyed GH fan in search of another box of tissues.
According to Ms. Shapiro, "It's challenging to cast a character as intense and compelling as Lucky Spencer. We are fortunate to have found a young actor with Jacob's charisma and talent, and we welcome him into the ABC Daytime family."
The character will return to the canvas as Luke learns his son is alive. How will Lucky's return affect the lives of those he loves? "As a member of a core family on General Hospital," EP Wendy Riche explains, "Lucky Spencer is pivotal on the canvas. Lucky's return will deeply affect those who love him, but the impact of his ordeal will have significant ramifications. " Riche could not be more pleased with casting Young in the role. "Jacob is a dynamic actor who will bring a unique complexity to our new and exciting storyline."
"I am very excited to be joining the extraordinary cast of General Hospital," said Young. "I am glad to be back in the daytime arena and I'm honored to have the opportunity to work with Tony Geary, Genie Francis and Rebecca Herbst."
Young is most known for his role as Rick Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful, for which he received an EMMY nomination for Outstanding Younger Lead Actor in a Daytime Drama. The character of Lucky Spencer was originated by two-time EMMY Award winning actor, Jonathan Jackson.
Young's first airdate as Lucky Spencer is Friday, February 25, 2000.
