According to a report in today's Los Angeles Times, soap opera star Victoria Rowell, who has played the character of Drucilla on The Young and the Restless, has just placed her Hollywood Hills home on the market for a paltry $2.599 million.
The actress and author's home is located in the Beachwood Canyon area of the Hollywood Hills, just beneath the Hollywood sign. It is nearly 4.400 square feet and sits on more than a quarter-acre lot with a swimming pool.
Soapdom has learned that the home was built in 1923 and boasts 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, a library, media room, family room and an updated kitchen with a breakfast room. According to public records, she purchased the home in the early 1990's for under $900,000.
Rowell's home is a classic Mediterranean style with terrace, city views, and Italian-style gardens. The grounds include mature trees and privacy hedges.
The long-time star of The Young and the Restless is 52 years old. She started in Genoa City in 1990 and continued to play the character of Drucilla through 2007.
She likewise co-starred on Diagnosis Murder (from 1993-2002).
But acting is not her only passion. She is also an author. To date, Rowell has penned two books, "The Woman Who Raised Me," a memoir about growing up in the foster care system, and "Secrets of a Soap Opera Diva: A Novel."
Here is the cool thing about book number two! It is currently under consideration as a prime-time series. Who says soaps are dead?
Rowell is selling her home in the Hollywood Hills to be in New York and Altlanta with her husband of two years, Radcliffe Bailey, a visual artist. There have been some rumors that she is in talks to return to Y&R this year, but if she's moving east, how much truth can be placed in those rumors?
Time will tell.
