Daytime Emmy winner, Susan Lucci to host Deadly AffairsAccording to a report on the AP, Susan Lucci, who starred as Erica Kane on All My Children from 1970 until the soap ended in September 2011, is taking her soapy duties to the Investigation Discovery cable network.

Lucci will host and narrate a new series for the network called Deadly Affairs.  "They are deceptive love relationships, love triangles, and betrayal that have deadly consequences, " Lucci explained.  "And they end in tragedy."

Sound like a soap opera to you?  Only there are no writers introducing an evil twin, or someone returning to life and dealing with amnesia.  These are stories about real people in real life circumstances.

"Every day you hear these stories and you think, 'Oh my goodness!'  Then they disappear.  You don't know what happened next, and you don't know why they happened," said Lucci.   "I'm hoping that, in exploring them, we'll shed some light on human nature."

Lucci goes on to remind us that as Erica Kane she did some terrible things, but she was punished for those misdeeds.  She was in jail several times.  Describing Deadly Affairs as a real-life soap, she is excited about hosting the show, calling it a perfect match, for the once former Erica Kane."I miss Erica tremendously," she shared.

Investigation Discovery has ordered 10 episodes and filming will begin in March for a fall debut.

Freddie Smith Puts Mark On Character

As an openly gay character, Freddie Smith (Sonny Kiriakis) of Days of our Lives loves the challenge of "capturing the character."

"I do! It's exciting to be able to play this role. This is a big hot topic (being gay) in today's society,"  Smith said. "By portraying this character, I feel like I am making an impact on society, and be able to shed light on something that many people have a fear of."

This week Smith along with Chandler Massey (Will) have shared their first on air kiss. "This role gives me the opportunity to share the variety of experiences of what it is like to be gay," Smith said. "It's like do I come out? Do I stay in? This is about showing two sides."
