July 16, 2006… Los Angeles, CA … The Bold and the Beautiful's Jack Wagner won the 17th Annual (2006) American Century Tahoe Celebrity Golf Championship, his first win of this Tournament, and the first ever win of the Tournament by a non-professional athlete.
Wagner, who has played in all 17 American Century Tahoe Tournaments, and who has held respectable title as a member of the "Elite 8," was, understandably, delighted by his win. “Golf is a humbling game,” said Wagner. “But, this time around I found a form of humility that gave me the strength to win. The thanks goes to my son Peter, who caddied for me and who continuously reminded me to stay focused on the moment at hand, let go of what had just happened, and not worry about what might happen next. Peter was the angel carrying my bag.”
A 54-competition for current and former professional athletes and entertainers who play to a USGA registered handicap of 10 or less, the 2006 American Century Tahoe Tournament took place at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in South Lake Tahoe, Nevada and was broadcast live, over three consecutive days, by NBC Sports. Other players included NBA's Charles Barkley and Chris Webber, NFL's John Elway and Billy Joe Tolliver as well as The Pittsburgh Steelers’ 2006 Super Bowl star Ben Roethlisberger, NHL's Dann Quinn, Tour de France legend Lance Armstrong and Donald Trump. All proceeds of the tournament benefited Autism Speaks and The Lance Armstrong Foundation. For more information on The American Century Golf Tournament visit: www.tahoecelebritygolf.com.
Wagner has played sea captain and Marone Enterprise executive Dominick “Nick” Marone on The Bold and the Beautiful since March, 2003.
