They collectively submitted letters on Allen's behalf, which ultimately lead to her winning the sweepstakes. As the winner, she set out on a once in a lifetime experience. She was flown down to the show's location shoot in Boca Raton, FL, where she met up with host, Bob Guiney. They spent three days together on camera meeting Allen's favorite AMC stars, including Rebecca Budig (Greenlee), Alicia Minshew (Kendall), Eden Riegel (Bianca), Thorsten Kaye (Zach), James Scott (Ethan), Leven Rambin (Lily) and Michael B. Jordan (Reggie). Allen's dreams came true when she played a role in an actual scene with the "bride," Susan Lucci and "groom," Walt Willey. The wedding episodes begin airing on Monday, May 23. Stars are crossing over networks once again. Sydney Penny, who originated the role of Julia on ABC Daytime's AMC, switched networks and joined the cast of B&B on CBS in the role of Samantha. However, the story never really materialized for the character and Penny was recently reduced to recurring on B&B. Old show AMC was ready and waiting in the wings and has just signed Penny for a 3-year contract to bring Julia back to Pine Valley. AMC fans may recall that Julia married Noah (played by Keith Hamilton Cobb, most recently seen as Damon on Y&R), in a much publiziced and romanticized wedding and the two went off together into a government protection program. Now that Cobb has also been relegated to recurring on Y&R, will AMC try to woo him back as well? Time will tell. (Contributed by LMS)
In more Sydney Penny news, she has just signed on with Jason Gedrick to star in the Hallmark Channel's telefilm, Hidden Places. Set in Indiana during the great depression, the movie centers on a widow and apple-orchard owner (Penny) who needs help making it through the next harvest. When hobo Gedrick arrives, it seems as though her prayers are answered. Tom Bosley and Barry Corbin also star. (Contributed by LMS)
Speaking of being placed on recurring, rumor has it that a number of additional B&B stars are on the short list for losing their contract status. First, Sean Kanan (Decan) was bumped to recurring. Then, Sydney Penny (Sam). Now, it seems that Dan McVicar (Clarke), Kayla Ewell (Caitlin), and Lorenzo Lamas (Hector) will soon follow suit. McVicar, who has been a B&B mainstay for many, many years, said he wouldn't comment on his contract status, but he did encourage fans to write, call, email and let the powers that be know how they feel about the character of Clarke. Have an idea for a Clarke Garrison storyline? Don't be shy. Write to the producers and let them know! Snail mail always carries more weight than email, so get the Snail Mail address here. Speaking of Ryan, Ian Buchanan has played a number of soap characters including James on B&B (shown at right, photo © CBS), Joshua on Port Charles, a recurring role as Lord Sheraton on Days, but most notably, he played the role of Duke Lavery on General Hospital.
