Congratulations to Susan Lucci (ex Erica, All My Children) and the rest of the cast of Lifetime's Devious Maids. The basic cabler, positioned to women, has renewed the prime time soap for a second season.
Debuting to 2 million viewers, the series has reached 2.9 million as of its last airing, making it one of, if not the most, audience building show for the network.
Starring Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramirez, Roselyn Sanchez, Edy Ganem and Judy Reyes as the maids and Susan Lucci, Rebecca Wisocky, Tom Irwin, Mariana Klaveno, Grant Show, Matt Cedeno, Melinda Page Hamilton, Drew Van Acker, Brianna Brown and Brett Cullen various co-starring roles, the show has proved to be a big winner for Lifetime.
According to THR who broke the story just now, the series was inspired by the telenovela Ellas son la Alegría del Hogar and landed at Lifetime with a series order in June 2012 after ABC developed and passed on the pilot."
"ABC Studios has had a great partnership with Lifetime and Televisa and we're looking forward to another terrific season with Marc Cherry and his talented cast and crew," said Stephanie Leifer, senior vp current programming at ABC Studios according to THR.
The second season is picked up for 12 episodes, a standard series order in the cable world.
