Remy and Mel reach out to each other for support. GL drops the ball with the movie.

Lawrence Saint Victor (Remy, Guiding Light)

I’m just so past Guiding Light this week, I have very little to say. The movie is boring and redundant. I say it each week and I will continue to stress please bring an end to the movie storyline. It seems like GL is letting everything ride on this one story and things are getting worse with the passing time. I am dreading the bulk of filming of the wedding scene. Just thinking about that horrible little actress prancing about in Reva’s over the top wedding dress is too much to bare thinking about for next week.

Like so many other people who didn’t like the idea of Reva and Jeffrey together but now I do I hate seeing them broken up. What was so cute was the gossip Reva and Jeffrey shared at Towers on Wednesday when they were at prime rib night, separately, though they were used to going together.

Sitting at separate tables, Reva and Jeffrey tried to live their own lives, yet be polite and interact with the other. It was just plain cute because they both tried to play it cool but the chance to gossip and giggle about a regular customer on the prime rib special night was too much to resist. They found themselves reconnecting the way they did in the beginning over this common interest. Unfortunately, they caught themselves and didn’t leave together.

Wednesday was also fun when the Coopers found themselves on one side of a ball field and Cyrus and Daisy clearly on the other, staying far away from the family. Mallet turns and yells across the field “Red Rover, Red Rover, send Daisy right over!” The comment had no real baring on the storyline but added a little reality to the show. It seemed like something a real family and real family friend would say or do. Plus it added a little dash of comedy to what should have been a serious family split.

Where is Dylan? He is obviously in town because characters refer to him being local, but Dylan is never on screen anymore. I like Dylan the original, and BJ the most recent portrayer, of Dylan Lewis.

I think the best scene from this week was the loving brother/sister conversation and emotional confessions shared between Mel and Remy. These are two secondary characters that have such a great emotional and acting potential. Guiding Light needs to let these two shine and have a major storyline; or let them go all together instead of teasing viewers with what could be loved characters. After the sweet exchange this week my vote is to see more. Mel and Remy each seem very emotional and have a deep side that could lend themselves to some powerful storylines.

I am a die hard Reva and Josh fan. Reva is my all time favorite character of all time but if what we are seeing lately is the best the show can do for such a legendary character and actress then I say step aside and let someone else take the lead. Mel and Remy would be prime for such a role.

I hope what we saw from Mel and Remy this week was a teaser of what is to come, not simply time filler.

Until next week Guiding Light fans keep your light shining as Springfield keeps theirs’ shining for us.
