The Spixie wedding comes to a halt & John J. York (Mac) shines

John J. York (Mac, General Hospital)So it doesn't look like the wedding will happen. I have to give props to Spinelli for loving Maxie enough to let her go, so to speak. He's respectful of her reservations, all the while understanding that Maxie loves him. It's like that saying "if you love someone, set them free. If they come back they're yours. If they don't, they never were." I believe Spinelli did the right thing. I also believe Maxie is committed to Spinelli and she will continue to be. They may or may not get married in the future. But the fact that Spinelli loves and respects Maxie enough to stop the wedding says a lot about who he is. Though he's not perfect, Spinelli is a keeper.

If you're a John J. York (Mac) fan, you'll agree he was terrific this past week. It was nice to see so much of Mac, finally. So Robin and Patrick found Mac at the church talking to himself about Spinelli. I believe Mac called Spinelli "a babbling thug." Mac used many colorful words to describe Spinelli, including "idiot" and dunder head." Poor Patrick was nervous about his own presence setting Mac "off." The Buddhist Monk stumbling into the rehearsal pretty much pushed Mac over the edge. Chaos was never so funny. And how great was John J. York in Maxie's dream as "crazy" Mac on his weekend pass from Shady Brook? Later, Mac deemed Maxie's wedding "the worst day in Scorpio-Jones history." Mac came through for Maxie in the end and privately gave her his blessing. He even reached out to Spinelli with a handshake at the altar.

I've always loved Mac as a father. The way he stepped up and took care of Robin, Maxie, and Georgie like nobody else could have. Even though Mac started out as a "bad" guy, he's more than redeemed himself. York is a solid performer and one I've missed seeing over the years. I remember when York's Mac was front burner. I'm speaking of the good old days when Mac ran The Outback. The days when Mac had a love life and he palled around with Kevin Collins.

Stuart Damon (ex Alan, General Hospital)Speaking of actors and characters from the past, Stuart Damon (ex Alan Q) is playing a mobster on As The World Turns and he's terrific. I miss seeing Alan on GH. He was front burner when I first started watching in the late 1970's. I still remember Damon as the handsome prince opposite Lesley Ann Warren in the 1965 movie, Cinderella. If you remember, or even if you don't - take a look:

It's funny because there are other ex GH actors on ATWT as well. Jon Lindstrom (ex Kevin & Ryan Collins, GH and PC) and Lynn Herring (ex Lucy Coe, GH and PC) are on ATWT. Lindstrom plays Craig and Herring plays Audrey. Also Julie Pinson from Port Charles is on ATWT as Janet. It's very strange to see them all together playing different characters on a different soap. I don't usually watch ATWT but I did on Friday because I walked by and Stuart Damon was on and he was so great to watch. I kept watching when I saw Herring and Lindstrom. Kevin and Lucy were two of my favorite characters ever on GH. I was also a big fan of Ryan, believe it or not. Lynn Herring and Jon Lindstrom were two of my favorite GH actors so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to watch them in their current roles. Even though I'm used to them as Kevin and Lucy, it's clear these actors have a rare chemistry. No matter what roles they play, Herring and Lindstrom shine together.

In other actor news, Sarah Brown posted on her facebook page that she's directing a music video for Jake Newton. The song is called "Burn In My Cage." Jake is terrific. If you're not familiar with him, check out his official site: http://www.jakenewton.com/

Sebastian Roche will appear in this week's episode of The Beautiful Life: TBL on the CW. The soapy nighttime drama stars Mischa Barton (ex Marissa, The O.C.) and was co created and produced by Ashton Kutcher. Roche also appears in episode six of the series. He tweeted a while back that the role was recurring. The bad news? The Beautiful Life: TBL has already been cancelled. But fear not - Roche tweeted he's "just booked a big recurring baddie part on" the popular Fringe, which airs on Fox. Stay tuned for more details on that one. No word on if or when Roche will return to GH.

"This is a great day for nerds," Molly claimed as she discussed the wedding with Sam. I love Molly. I find her brilliant and refreshing. The kid explained Buddhism to a room full of adults. And she did it really well. The only flaw in Molly is her perception of Kiefer. She hasn't figured out what a dangerous presence he is.

Poor Michael is so confused. The kid doesn't know if he's coming or going. Michael remembered Sam's visit while he was comatose but Sam says she never visited him. Michael also remembered Claudia's confession, so to speak. I think this is the beginning of the end for Claudia. Especially since Sarah Brown is leaving the show. At first I was sure Sonny, Jason, or Jerry would kill Claudia. Now I wonder if it might be Dante/Dominic or even Johnny. I'm thinking Claudia will die a violent death - the way only a Zacchara can.
