B&B Declared “World’s Most Watched Daily Drama Series”

The Bold and the Beautiful was the recipient of the International TV Audience award in the category of “Telenovela/Soap Opera” at the 46th Monte-Carlo Television Festival Golden Nymph Awards Ceremony on July 1, 2006 at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, confirming that it is the most watched daily drama series in the world.

The International TV Audience Awards are determined by the sum of ratings across five continents and 51 countries as measured by Médiamétrie and Eurodata TV Worldwide. The win signifies that The Bold and the Beautiful delivered higher ratings worldwide in 2005 than any other daily drama series, including the two other nominees in the same category, the Spanish-language telenovelas, Rubi (Mexico), and Pasión de Gavilanes (Colombia/USA).

The award was accepted by Executive Writer and Head Producer Bradley P. Bell, who travelled to Monaco along with cast members Ashley Jones (Bridget) and Antonio Sabáto, Jr. (Dante) to participate in the festival.

Created by Médiamétrie, Eurodata TV Worldwide distributes programming and audience information, based on its partnership with the national institutes operating people meter systems throughout the world. Today, Eurodata TV Worldwide’s database contains more than 2000 channels in 75 countries.

Winning its time slot for the past two decades in most markets, The Bold and the Beautiful can be viewed in over 130 countries and territories worldwide, airing in morning, daytime, afternoon, access prime and prime time with an estimated daily audience of over 35 million viewers (Source: TVMI). In some international markets, The Bold and the Beautiful equals or outperforms many U.S. prime time series.’

A few examples of the series’ performance:

In Italy, The Bold and the Beautiful has 5.5 million viewers (a 32% market share) on Mediaset’s Canale5 in the early afternoon and is counted among the top 5 U.S. imports. (Source: Auditel)

In Australia, where it garners an average daily commercial share of 46% every weekday at 4:30 p.m., The Bold and the Beautiful wins its time slot daily and is a top 5 performer across all regular daytime programming. (Source: OzTAM).

In South Africa, The Bold and the Beautiful is the Number One U.S. import and receives an average 54% market share Monday-Friday at 6:30 p.m. on public broadcaster SABC1. (Source: TAMS data)

In the United States, where it is the second-highest rated daytime drama, The Bold and the Beautiful is consistently #1 in its time slot. The Bold and the Beautiful, taped at CBS Television City in Los Angeles, California, will celebrate its 20th season of broadcasting in March 2007. The series is produced by Bell-Phillip Television, Inc. Bradley P. Bell is the Head Writer and Executive Producer.

Days of our Lives' Suzanne Rogers looks to the 50th ~ 'It's been a wonderful life.'

Suzanne Rogers, who plays Maggie Horton on Days of our Lives, is gearing up for the big 50th anniversary this November, and she remains in awe that this month she celebrates 42 years with the show.

"Can you believe it? I cant! I'm so lucky to be a part of something this wonderful," Rogers said. "Not many people can say they love their jobs, but I'm one of the fortunate few that can truly say I love what I do."

Rogers said that working for the Corday family (creators of the show) has been great! She has many fond memories of the late Betty Corday, saying that she truly misses her.
