As many of you know, Soapdom experienced a major hard drive failure on Sunday, January 4th. This resulted in a total crash of the website. We were able to get the homepage back on line within a day or so, but the programming for the rest of the site was compromised. We were back up and running by Tuesday, January 13, but suffered a database crash (likewise resulting from the hard drive crash) on Friday, January 16. We did not get the site back up until Monday, January 19. Yesterday, we also experienced some downtime. We regret the inconvenience. If you vi sit Soapdom and the site is down or not working properly, please just give us a little time to get things back in order again. Thank you for your patience. All I can say is, what a cruel way to start the New Year! Hope 2009 is treating you all a bit better. Like I always say, technology is grand, except when it doesn't work. Contributed by LMS
As the site was down for the most part of this month, I've been saving Buzz and have added it all below! Enjoy.

And baby makes five for As the World Turns star. The 2/10 issue of Soap Opera Digest is reporting that Maura West (Carly, ATWT) and husband Scott DeFreitas (ex-Andy, ATWT) will welcome baby No. 5 later this year. The couple's kids already include Joseph (nine in March), Katherine (seven), Basil (two); and, Benjamin (12, from West's first marriage.) Question is will Carly be pregnant, too? According to Digest, word is that the pregnancy will not be written into the storyline. Looks like we're gonna be seeing Carly carrying lots of fluffy pillows, tote bags, and hiding behind tall furniture later this year. Stay tuned. Contributed by LMS

Days of our Lives fans rejoice! Days of our Lives finished the fourth quarter of 2008 tied for #4 among network daytime series in the women 18-49 demographic, while ranking #1 outright in the valuable women 18-34 category, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research. Days (1.4 rating, 8 share among women 18-49, 1.2/7 among women 18-34) equaled its ratings for the year-ago quarter among women 18-49 and women 18-34 and is up 5 percent in total viewers (with 2.8 million persons versus 2.7 million). Days also increased its audiences among working women 18-49 and females 18-24, 12-24 and 12-17 versus the year-ago quarter. For example, for the week of December 22-26, Days (1.3/7 among women 18-49, 1.1/7 among women 18-34) tied for #4 in the women 18-49 category and ranked #2 in the women 18-34 demo. Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date and fourth-quarter figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day." Contributed by LMS
Some interesting news for AMC and GL fans. There is word spreading around the internet that John Driscoll, currently Coop on Guiding Light, may be heading for ABC Daytime pastures in the role of Sean Montgomery (last played by Breng Webber in 2007). We cannot confirm this rumor at this time, we are just putting it out there and saying where there is smoke there can be fire, or maybe not. In more news for AMCers, looks like we will be seeing more of Tad in the upcoming months and Kendall will be regaining consciousness soon. Contributed by LMS
