Kate Mansi, who started airing on Days of our Lives as Abigail on March 2, 2011 is facing a lot of turning points for her character in 2012. Currently, she's in a love triangle with Chad (Casey Deidrick) and Melanie (Molly Burnett), there's a definite chemistry brewing between her and the much older and very married, Austin (Patrick Muldoon), and the possibility of a very cool job is on the horizon.

Mansi is loving her storyline and couldn't be happier about being a part of Days of our Lives.

"Being on the show – well, I couldn't have asked for a better place," Mansi shared with Soapdom when we asked her how she is settling in. "Days is such a welcoming family -- from cast to crew to publicity. It's such a team. From day one, I felt it was a really great place to be so I feel really lucky."

Along with dealing with young love and finding her way amid the Melanie/Chad relationship, Abby has just landed an internship with Madison (Sarah Joy Brown). But it turns out that Madison has even bigger plans for her and offers her the job of a model. We wanted to know if Mansi had ever modeled before.

"What's interesting is that Madison's whole campaign is to have models who are real people," Mansi shared. "That's the kind of modeling experience I've had."

Mansi revealed that she is "five foot nothing. I am a curvy girl." But it turns out that she did some print work and commercials before landing her role on Days of our Lives. "I did a Panasonic commercial that became a print ad. I did a Nikon print campaign. But I never did any high fashion modeling," she said.

Soapdom wanted to know if the modeling gig for Madison was going to be a big part of the storyline. "Not sure exactly what direction it's going yet. As the storyline hasn't taken off yet, it is still in process so I'm not sure exactly when it is going to really start hitting," said Mansi candidly.

Right now, Abby is still just Madison's intern. "She just offered me the job, and I do accept, but I haven't started doing anything yet for her," Mansi said.

So why does she take on the job? It's back to that love triangle thing again. "Part of the reason she accepts the position is because she wants to stay so busy to distract her from the triangle with Chad and Melanie," Mansi shared. Ah yes. The plot thickens.

But now Austin is also in the picture. He's the tall, dark, handsome, successful older man, who is also very married. Is this going to lead to romance between them?

"Abby now has a strong friendship with Austin and she feels that she could fall in love with him, but it s very one sided because he is still very much in love with his wife.

We both agreed to "never say never in Salem." Love could very well be in the cards for both of them down the line, so stay tuned.

Newcomer Mansi started performing at a young age as a dancer. "I wanted to dance all my life. But then, I did a theatre play and found out about acting through that. And I love it. My parents said I had to go to college where I majored in PR and film. Then, I was out there auditioning and my first break was Days of our Lives."

As the newbie on the show, Mansi trusts the writing and the writers implicitly. "I trust them with whatever they throw at me," she said. "They've been giving me incredible stuff to work on so far, so I am excited and can't wait for them to throw on the rest!"

A bit of a throwback, Mansi enjoys 60's and 70's rock and roll, like Lynyrd Skynyrd and Led Zeplin and she shares that with her significant other. "My boyfriend really likes it and I love the old classic rock."

Her all time favorite movies are Notting Hill and Good Will Hunting. They helped inspire her career. "In my teen years, it was the first time I realized I wanted to be those characters and be in someone else's skin. They were really important to me."

As for the gracious reception she's received so far from Days fans, she couldn't be more touched. "I feel so grateful to everyone who has supported the new Abby and I am so excited to be on the show. I hope everyone sticks with me."
