More on Josh Duhamel's return...
In an effort to really go out in style, All My Children is bringing back a number of fan favorite characters before the show goes off the air this September.
The latest in line to return is Eva La Rue, who has played Dr. Maria Santos Grey on and off since 1993. She went off contract in 2005 but returned again for an episode or two in both 2007 and 2010. She heads back to Pine Valley this summer for several episodes.
From the very beginning, Maria Santos Grey stole the hearts of viewers and is best known for her fairytale romance with
Edmund Grey (John Callahan). Together, the super-couple struggled to build a family of their own while La Rue's character endured many ups-and-downs. Last seen in 2010, Maria Santos Grey departed for California to reunite her family.
La Rue was nominated for a Daytime Emmy award and has won two ALMA Awards and one Gracie Allen Award for her role on All My Children. She can currently be seen weekly on CSI Miami.
La Rue's return on July 19th is certain to be a summer highlight for viewers.
Soapdom has already announced the return of Josh Duhamel (Leo DuPres, Pine Valley's favorite con artist) who is scheduled to "make an appearance on All My Children" this August. As previously mentioned, Duhamel "allegedly" died in 2003 when he fell from a cliff during a battle with his war lord of a mother, Vanessa (Marj Dussay).
Leo was paired with Rebecca Budig's Greenlee in 2000 and the two characters quickly became a soap super-couple. When Leo went over a waterfall years ago trying to save Greenlee, his body was never found, leaving daytime fans hopeful the character would someday return.
Duhamel was nominated for four Daytime Emmy Awards throughout his time on All My Children and won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in 2002 for his role as Leo. Since his exit from the show in 2003, Duhamel has often mentioned his interest to return to the daytime drama credited for his breakthrough as an actor. Along with the homecoming of many other fan favorites, Duhamel's August return promises storyline twists and turns that All My Children fans have grown to know and love.
"Everyone at All My Children is thrilled and excited to welcome Josh back to Pine Valley. The appearance of Leo is sure to be one of the highlights of the season," said Julie Carruthers, Executive Producer of All My Children.
So who's next to head back to Pine Valley? Stay tuned to Soapdom for the latest news.
