Lynde Lands Six Feet Under and Launches New Book
Seasoned veteran actress, Janice Lynde (formerly Y&R, AW, OLTL, GH) will be guest starring in a recurring role opposite James Cromwell on HBO's critically acclaimed Six Feet Under, starting on the season finale, Sunday September 12, 2004.
"I was so thrilled to work with such class acts as James Cromwell and Frances Convoy, they welcomed me from day one, I'm looking forward to returning soon when the next season starts shooting in a few months." says Lynde.
Wanting to perform since age four, Lynde got her first break in acting when she landed the role of concert pianist Leslie Brooks on The Young and the Restless as part of the original cast in 1973. She stayed with Y&R through 1977. Lynde was nominated for an Emmy for her portrayal of the character in 1976.
Her list of other daytime, primetime and feature credits is quite extensive, including roles on One Life to Live, General Hospital, Another World, and in primetime on such major shows as Barnaby Jones, The Odd Couple, Baywatch, Touched by an Angel and many more.
When she’s not acting or teaching acting, Lynde is also making a new name for herself as an author. Her new book for the novice and professional actor titled, “10 Minutes to The Audition: Your Last Minute Guide and Checklist for Getting the Part,” hits bookstores and on line sites in mid-October.
"It's a unique concept that is used by airline pilots before take-off, and I've tailored it for the actor in preparation for the part." quotes Lynde.
Janice Lynde is a two-time Obie winning, Emmy nominated-actress and acting coach who originated the "Directing the Actor" program at The American Film Institute (AFI) and teaches at Robert Redford's Sundance Institute.
