Bobbie Eakes, best known for her beloved turns on two of daytime soap operas' most popular, long running hits, All My Children and The Bold and the Beautiful on to center stage to star in "Turn the Page." Eakes is set to remind live audiences of her true, original calling as a songstress when she appears one night only at The Annenberg Theatre, Friday, November 8 at 8:00 P.M.
A Southerner, who as Miss Georgia, was a Top Ten Finalist in the 1982 Miss America Pageant, Eakes has enjoyed a vast and varied career in entertainment. While her multiple Emmy nominated turns on the aforementioned soap operas kept her on America's living room television sets for a nearly 15 year span, she's also gathered an impressive list of credits with guest appearances on such shows as Cheers, Falcon Crest, Full House, Jag, Matlock and The View.
A natural born singer since early childhood, Eakes made her singing debut in the all girl band "Big Trouble" mentored by disco era legend Grammy Award Winner Giorgio Moroder. Her 1998 solo album debut "Here and Now," produced by yet another Grammy Award Winner Don Cook, featured a mix of country/western and bluegrass. With "Something Beautiful" in 2005, Eakes added sultry jazz to her repertoire making its way to No. 21 on the Billboard Smooth Jazz chart. Her recognition as a singer has been reinforced by her being chosen to host CRL (Country Request Live) and the Top 20 Country Countdown on television's Great American Country Network. Eakes also co-starred along side fellow soap femme fatales Kassie DePaiva and Kathy Brier in the popular touring production, the Divas of Daytime.
"Turn the Page," reflects a new chapter in her professional career as Eakes returns to her roots by showcasing her versatile vocals. Her set list will feature an ecletic selection of retrospective and contemporary. A truly unique vocal stylist, this one- woman show might have one of her personal friend/celebrity guests drop in, to share a song or two!
