Dear Suds Buds:
Time to once again tap into the Turtle-Run mail bag and publish some of your letters to the editor. So, without further ado....
"I live in Turkey and they used to show Passions but not anymore. I would like you to tell me where can I find past episodes but detailed. (In Turkey we are way too far back from now. We last watched the one where Whitney and Theresa went to the Crane's mountain lodge and Ethan and Chad came along. Chad pulled Whitney's towel and (then) they stop showing it! Thank you very much!!" yasemin
Wow, yasemin. You are visiting with Turtle-Run all the way from Turkey! Welcome. And you are right. Those scenes you described were some time ago. But fear not. For daily show recaps of Passions, visit Turtle-Run's "Past Episode Guides." I'd say you'd need to go back about 6 months from today to get to where you last saw the show. Maybe even more than that. To find the "Past Episode Guides," just scroll down the Navigation on the left of this page.
"I was just on Angelfire -under Michael Nader. On the site they say that the long wait is over, Michael Nader has been re-signed and is coming back to AMC. Is this true and if so when will he be back on? Until recently I was a long time viewer of AMC but I was so angry that they killed off Gillian and they did not bring Michael back that I stopped watching. But of course, if Michael Nader returns then so will I." Anne
Ah yes, Anne. You are not alone. Turtle-Run.com continues to receive email from disgruntled Michael Nader fans on a daily basis. Unfortunately, the rumor regarding headwriter Richard Culliton's comments about a return to the glory days of Wildwind with Dimitri were just that --comments about the glory days of Wildwind. In a very candid interview with Soap Opera Digest, Nader revealed that the network did indeed call him in for discussions, but only to say that they had no intentions of bringing the Count back to the show. Ever! Yet, Nader fans continue to write the network and the soap publications, including Turtle-Run.com, petitioning for a rethinking of this strategy, and the persistent hope that Nader will indeed return to AMC one day. Such as:
"What a big mistake you are making not bringing back such a talented and loved actor as Michael Nader. Not only is he loved as an actor, but his character is adored by loyal AMC fans. I count myself as one of those loyal fans. I am 37 years old and have been watching AMC since the beginning. That's right, I was watching as a child with Mom. I missed a lot of AMC during school years, but kept up to date by my Mom and older sister. Even when I moved out of the country, I kept up to date by reading Soap Opera Digest. When I returned 3 years later, it was one of the first TV shows I couldn't wait to watch. Bringing back the character of Dimitri would boost your ratings dramatically. I also believe bringing back the character of Maria, and involving her in this "Proteus" storyline would be very interesting. The Laura storyline is getting very old, let's wrap it up guys and gals. Send her to Oak Haven. Please. Thanks for listening."
Tan, A loyal fan
However, after the Soap Opera Digest article was published, Turtle-Run received this letter from a group of Nader fans called the Loyalists:
"Dear Nader Supporters:
Let's have a little peace and closure here. Soap Opera Digest quoted Michael Nader (http://www.angelfire.com/celeb2/nader/page10.html) in its October 30th, 2001 article about ABC slamming the door on Dimitri, Michael Nader, and his fans.
And so with Michael's caring words for fans that fought valiantly for the return of a character they loved...Dimitri is gone from the pages of AMC.
Perhaps his leaving is symbolic that some basic essence we fans cherish has also vanished...and will not return. His character represented flawed heroism...the driving force one feels to protect one's family, one's loved ones, one's honor, despite one's own inability to measure up to one's own ideals... But continuing the struggle means everything.
Nader's gift...? He made us believe in that character and in that struggle. And so we, like "our" Dimitri, cared and hoped, perhaps wishing that somehow that caring remained alive somewhere in a world that seems to move at the speed of light, if often not in its presence.
We are stunned that ABC would again dash our hearts and our hopes...coldly stating they had no storyline, and never would, for the fascinating character so many loved and missed and fought for. And their disclosing their steely premeditation that they had no real interest in the character, despite re-signing Nader AND making the "if he gets the help..." statement, only brings more sadness...for him, for us, and further disdain for the suits at ABC.
We are so proud of the effort we fans undertook together...all of you who came to call yourselves Loyalists...and how bravely we all fought the battle to bring back "our" Count. We were always inspired by the words of affection and encouragement you sent to us on his behalf. Thanks to you, he knows that his work deeply touched his audience.
But sadly it seems we must now bid farewell to our beloved Count. Somehow we trust he knows we fought just as hard for him as Dimitri would have fought for those he loved. And we hope he knows that, for many of us, the lights have forever gone out at Wildwind. Farewell, Edmund! The two of you were wonderful together. We won't forget. Nor will we ever forget Dimitri with Erica...a pairing that brought us their wonderfully impossible romance...and had us scurrying to our TV sets every day.
To Michael...we remain grateful for your investing so much of yourself in this character so that, for a few minutes a day, we could dream that people and places like this still exist. They certainly will, in the hearts of those you touched. Thanks for the memories. We will always continue to watch for you, wherever you go, and wish you well. We will always miss you! Xoxoxoxo The Loyalists P.S. Thanks so much to all of you for making this campaign possible. You were wonderful.
Eloquently put. And who knows what the future will bring? Nader, now available, could turn up on some other daytime or primetime show. It is unfortunate that the powers that be at All My Children have chosen to go in a different direction with their storytelling, but they must feel that they are doing what is right for the future of the show. For them, yes, Wildwind may have had its glory days, but they may feel that remembering those glory days fondly as they strive to create popular new characters and stories is now what is in the best interest of the show. Be that as it may, Turtle-Run also wishes Michael Nader all the best in his continued recovery and prospects for future acting endeavors.
"My question relates to one of the directors for Passions, Phideaux Xavier. Is the director male or female? The reason that I ask is because I enjoy the show so much more when this director directs. I think that it is a combination of passion and gentleness, (if that makes sense) which seems to be present." Willie Mae
Willie Mae you may be surprised to learn that Phideaux Xavier is a gentleman! Yet, he directs the show with such a refined sensibility and as you stated, passion and gentleness. He is a credit to their roster of directors, and I am sure would be delighted to hear your comments. I have forwarded them on to our contacts at Passions to pass them on to Mr. Xavier!
Guiding Light's David Andrew MacDonald Makes Baby Announcement
Guiding Light's David Andrew MacDonald (Edmund) may be an unscrupulous character on the soap, but in real life he couldn't be a more proud papa. MacDonald was delighted to announce the name of his new baby boy: Ian Andrew Nicola Macdonald. Congratulations David and Ian!
NBC Daytime's Benefit Auction "NBC Soap Fanhelp" At ShopNBC, A Flag-Waving Success
Between November 2-5, 2001, fans of NBC Daytime illustrated their generosity and patriotism by donating $33,022 to The September 11th Fund through "NBC Soap FanHelp," an NBC Daytime online auction hosted by ShopNBC in cooperation with NBC.com.
"NBC Soap FanHelp" (http://www.shopnbc.com/fanhelp) opened for bidding on Friday, November 2 at 9:00 a.m. EDT and sustained constant bidding throughout the four days on the over 70 items donated by "Days of our Lives," "Passions" and the actors themselves. Items included personal effects of the actors such as a tank top worn and autographed by "Days" star Kyle Lowder which sold for $990.00, as well as wardrobe from each show such as Timmy's magical gloves from "Passions" that sold for$780.00 and Princess Gina's ball gown worn by Kristian Alfonso on "Days of our Lives" that sold for $1,505.00. The item that commanded the largest donation was a Salem High School letterman jacket signed by several of the teen cast members of "Days of our Lives" which was purchased by Gale Kvesic from Eugene, Oregon for $6,010.00.
"I am so proud of everyone involved for doing this," exclaimed Ms. Kvesic. "I just love the show, especially the teen parts. This was a fabulous opportunity for me to buy the jacket in honor of my mother, June, who passed away in 1984, and as a gift for my daughter, Kim, 18, who is a freshman in college. Watching 'Days' is a tradition in our family and helps keep us young at heart."
"'NBC Soap FanHelp' proves once again that soap fans are the most passionate and generous in all of television," stated Sheraton Kalouria, Sr. Vice President, Daytime Programs, NBC. "Our collaboration with ShopNBC and the great contributions from Days of our Lives, Passions and the stars made this event a rousing success."
"We are delighted to have partnered with NBC Daytime on this charitable fundraising effort," said Lyn Mueller, ShopNBC's VP of Auctions. "Together, in a united way across multiple broadcast and Internet venues, we marketed this event quite comprehensively and provided NBC Daytime fans an opportunity to own a piece of their passion from the comfort of home."
Proceeds from the auction will be donated to The September 11th Fund, which is administered by The United Way and the New York Community Trust. The September 11th Fund makes grants to established non-profit agencies that work at the frontlines, providing support and services to victims, their families, and others affected by the September 11th tragedy. Some of the agencies that have received grants from The September 11th Fund include Safe Horizons, New York Firefighters Fund and New York Police Department Fund. More information on The United Way or The September 11th Fund, can be found at www.unitedway.com.
Turtle-Run congratulates NBC Daytime, ShopNBC and the amazing NBC daytime fans who helped make this auction a "flag-waving success!"

Meet DOOL's nuColin, Justin Melvey
Australian actor Justin Melvey portrays Dr. Colin Murphy, a passionately dedicated doctor harboring dark secrets and a past, forbidden love on NBC's number one daytime drama, Days of our Lives.
Justin was born the youngest of five children in Sydney. A former pro skier, Justin excelled in sports all throughout school, mainly playing basketball and rugby. It was while competing in several professional sporting events, and working with the event producers, that Justin became interested in pursuing a career as an actor.
Justin's first role was in the student film, The Promise Land, which led to featured appearances in the films Cloud 2000, The Burning Boys and The Mametville Murders. Justin exuded charm and sex appeal in his role as Harry on Australia's premier night- time soap, Home and Away. This breakout role earned Justin the prestigious "Logie" (equivalent to the American Emmys) for "Best New Talent on Australian Television."
In addition to breaking hearts on Home and Away, Justin proved himself to be a very funny comedian during his improvisational comedy stints on Australian Television's Good News Week, The Great Debate and The Fox Comedy Store.
After two years on Home and Away, Justin decided to leave the popular series to break new ground as a Shakespearean thespian in one of the lead roles in The Complete Works of William Shakespeare which premiered at the Sydney Opera House. In the acclaimed production that sold out during the entire run, Justin played Hamlet, Macbeth, King Lear, Titus and 33 of Shakespeare's other leading men. After finishing the national tour, it was only a matter of days before Justin packed up his belongings and moved to Los Angeles to start Jennifer Horton's pulse tracing as Dr. Colin Murphy on Days of our Lives.
When he isn't acting, Justin hits the slopes as often as he can. Skiing has been an integral part of Justin's life since the age of three. At seventeen, he was selected for the Australian Freestyle Ski Team, and at age eighteen, Justin was among the top five in the Australian National Championships. Justin was also a lifeguard for 12 years, holding Active Reserve Status, and has a qualifying certificate, a Bronze medallion and an Advanced Resuscitation Diploma. He also holds a second-degree blackbelt in the Japanese style Shotokan Karate and competed on the New South Wales State Fighting Team for 3 years, earning his level-1 coach credentials with the National Australian Institute of Sport.
Justin stands 5' 11" and has brown hair and brown eyes. He celebrates his birthday on May 7th.
