Soapdom is deeply saddened to report the passing of Patricial Elliott. She died in her Manhattan home Sunday night after a battle with cancer. She was 77.
Soap opera fans will remember Elliott as the feisty and stalwarth Renee Buchanan on One Life to Live from 1988 to 2011.
Along with her work on the soap, Elliott was also a Tony Award winner, winning the prestigious Broadway award for her debut role as Countess Charlotte Malcolm in the original produciton of Stephen Sondheims A Little Night Music in 1973. She then went on to star opposite David Bowie in The Elephant Man. She was likewise nominated for a Tony in 1977 for her work in the original production of The Shadow Box. Other Broadway roles included A Doll's House, A Month of Sundays, and Hedda Gabler.
ABC has released the following statement in regard to her passing:
"Patricia Elliott was a great lady, a cherished performer and a great friend to so many. For more than two decades she delighted daytime audiences with her 'divine' talents on One Life to Live. Our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones."
Soapdom likewise extends our deepest sympathies to Eliott's family and friends. She will be forever remembered as an integral part of the fabric that was Llanview on One Life to Live. May she Rest in Peace.
