Days Celebrates Milestone

 

On Tuesday, February 1, 2005, Days of our Lives taped it's 10,000th episode. Wow. That's a whole lot of love, lust, intrigue, and mayhem in Salem.

The cast and crew gathered on one of the Days of our Lives sound stages to celebrate with a toast, a cake, and tons of kudos from the network executives and the distribution arm of the show, Sony Television Distribution.

10,000th Episode Airs Monday, February 21, 2005

On Monday, February 21, 2005, Days of our Lives will air its 10,000th episode. In two special segments, original cast member Frances Reid (Alice Horton), will open and close the show to camera. The actress, who appeared in the very first episode of the daytime drama, will thank viewers for watching.

A message from NBC to Days fans:  "Join us as we celebrate the 10,000th episode and in ushering in the next 10,000."

BURBANK, Calif. -- February 8, 2005 -- NBC's Days of our Lives, which turns 40 this November, first premiered as a half-hour drama in 1965 and expanded to an hour 10 years later. Today, it remains a consistent favorite among viewers of daytime television serials. According to NBC, Days of our Lives is tied for No. 1 in the key demographic of women 18-49 for the 2004-2005 season to date. In fact, in the valuable women 18-34 demographic, Days is No. 1 outright for the season and has been #1 for 491 of the last 494 weeks -- in other words, every week but three over the past nine and a half years! It is the powerhouse of NBC's soap opera lineup and a true classic in television history.
