The 2015 Los Angeles Marathon is over, but for Guy Wilson (Will) of Days of our Lives, he tells Soapdom that running in it this year to raise money for APLA (Aids Project Los Angeles), was an "eye opening experience".
"Oh Yes! This was so great to be able to give back to the community and raise money and awareness of this dreadful disease. "Wilson said. "I was so impressed with the fans of Days and the people that came out for this event. For me in general...this was a powerful experience, and the adrenalin was pumping. My goal was to go in this and serve the community."
Wilson raised over $3000 for APLA and said that he is thrilled to be able to raise that amount and wants to thank everyone that came out and to everyone that supported the cause. In fact, Wilson's mom and dad came to the Marathon to support him.
"People were great. From the bottom of my heart I thank you," Wilson said. "I really appreciated the level of support."
His only regret? "I would have liked to have completed the Marathon in a shorter period of time," Wilson shared with a laugh. He ran the Marathon in 5 hours, 16 minutes, and 43 seconds.
Wilson's goal is to compete in more Marathons and to complete them in a shorter period of time. In November, he plans to compete in a Marathon in Athens, Greece.

"I just feel that this cause (Aids) is so important, I want to get the word out there, "Wilson added. "I want people to be aware. This is not only local, but a disease that is around the world."
Wilson in a firm believer in staying in shape and taking care of his body, but he admitted that to prepare for Athens, he will take a short breather to rest and relax, but soon will be back in the regiment.
"I must say, that looking back on this run was a heart warming experience, and one that is a life changing experience. I am so happy to be a part of something so great!".
