Deidre Hall (Marlena) and Drake Hogestyn (John) of Days of our Lives (c)Soapdom/LMSDays of our Lives stars walk the red carpet giving the fans everything they ever dreamed of. The annual Day of Days recently held at Universal City Walk in Universal City, California; brings fans from across the country and even the globe to meet their favorite star. And what makes this event special is that it is not one star, but the whole cast.

The day begins in the morning and ends late afternoon with a special treat of the next episode that did not yet air that is shown to the fans on a big Trinitron screen. I must point out that that is also a press day with many reporters from different publications and outlets in the media.

The event is not only a day for the fans, but the stars as well. Deidre Hall (Marlena) said that every year she looks forward to the event. "I do. I love this. Just look around. It is phenomenal," she said. "To see people like this all gathered is great. It is hard to describe unless you are here."

In the morning the stars and press gather at the Samba Restaurant at City walk. The place is fabulous. Members of the press have an area courted of with tables and each table has a name of the press and whom they represent. There are reporters taking turns to talk to the stars. This year most of the stars were paired in two, and paired as you see them on screen. Example...Jen Lilley (Theresa) and Casey Moss (JJ), Suzanne Rogers (Maggie) and John Aniston (Victor), get the picture?

The stars walk the red carpet one by one in alphabetical order of their last name, as they are announced. Fans scream, take pictures, and the star gives high fives, talks and poses for photos. Some actors like Bryan Dattilo (Lucas), actually made someone's dream come true with a kiss.

The stars then head to a big stage set with a big backdrop with Days of our Lives and the famous hourglass logo. The announcer does a warm up and then there is a question and answer session. And as the announcer tells the fans that it is their day and have fun and take loads of pictures. And did they ever. I have never seen so many cameras and phone cameras in the air above their heads to get a shot of their favorite Salemite.

The stars were definitely shining. Suzanne Rogers, (Maggie), who recently celebrated 40 years on the show looked stunning, but of course...when does she not? "I want the fans to see the real me,"Rogers jokes. "This is an occasion to get dressed to the nines and get out there."

Chrishell Stause, Galen Gering and Lauren Koslow (c)Soapdom/LMS

Galen Gering (Rafe) and Eric Martsolf (Brady) each received a thunderous applause when they walked out and both were stopping to talk to the fans as they proceeded the red carpet.

After the introductions, the Q&A, it was lunchtime. The stars all took a break to a beautiful luncheon and the press was treated to a fabulous buffet at the Hard Rock Café at City Walk, which consisted of everything from salads, mini, burgers, to chicken wings, and was magnifico.

After lunch the stars began to get ready to meet the fans personally, which meant chatting, taking pictures, and getting up close and personal.

The well coordinated event had tables (Signing booths) set up throughout City Walk with the different actors. The fans lined up with chills down their spines anxiously waiting to be able to shake the hand of their favorite actor.

Barbara Olson of Dearborn Michigan waited to see Galen Gering. In fact, she came just to see him. Upon meeting the handsome actor, she commented that she dreamt of this day, and now that she is here, she is speechless. Gering made her feel relaxed, thanked her for being a fan, and a beautiful picture was taken.

Chrishell Stause (Jordan), who sat with Gering and Lauren Koslow (Kate) said this was her first event, and she was floored. "Look at this? Isn't this something. Oh my God. I love it." Stause was as cordial as can be, and not to mention drop dead gorgeous in a beautiful short blue dress that really brought out her hair and eye color. When she came plenty men were screaming 'Hey Jordan'.

Lauren Koslow was as vivacious as she is on the air, and always known for fashion with a flair, she looked like someone off a magazine cover. She posed with fans and answered questions.

James Scott and Alison Sweeney (Days of our Lives) (c)Soapdom/LMS

Alison Sweeney (Sami) and James Scott (EJ) probably had the longest line. "I love it!" Sweeney added "This is incredible". Scott second the notion adding, "I'm always amazed at these events. Just wonderful." I asked Sweeney with all her years on the show, does she ever have a say as to what goes on? Her response with her eyes starring down at me, "Oh Yes! I run the show. Sure." she laughingly said.

While the stars were signing autographs, the other stars were speaking with the press, rotating in groups. I must say when Deidre Hall (Marlena) and Drake Hogestyn) came to Soapdom's table and Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes (Doug and Julie), it was like daytime royalty. Hall was as funny as ever, and Hogestyn said how grateful he is to return back to the show. "I was ready to move out of state and boy things changed fast when I got the call."he said.

Bill Hayes reminisced about his childhood growing up in Harvey, Il., and recently returned where his high school (Thornton High) has a portrait of him in the building. "I'm always glad to go back home, as time goes by thing change, but yet remain. It's great!" Susan Seaforth Hayes brought out the fact that she is so glad to be paying more visits to Salem and is becoming intertwined in a story.

Peggy McCay and Josh Taylor (Days of our Lives) (c)Soapdom/LMS

Peggy McCay (Caroline) and Josh Taylor (Roman) sat down to chat with Soapdom saying the turnout of fans is great! Peggy also chatted about her storyline and dementia and how she has been receiving mail from people in the position. "I must tell you...I love my storyline. This is a real disease. I've been doing research, and I'm glad we are bring this to the forefront. She also chatted about her love for animals and helping find homes for pets, which she is involved in. Josh Taylor said he is still glad to be on Days. In the 70's he played Chris Kostichek on the show and at these fan events people remember, he joked. "I love to see people that have watched for years. That is a true fan."

Ari Zucker (Nicole) and Greg Vaughn (Fr. Eric) both agree. "Oh absolutely! "That is why I come to Days of Days, it is for those fans. I adore them back."said Zucker. As for Vaughn the talk around here is that he looks better in person than TV? "Really? (laughing) All kidding aside this day is set aside for the fans. Our show really has a following."

Freddie Smith (Sonny) and Judi Evans (Adrianne) said the fans are kind and as for Evan, she has been on the show more years than she cares to remember, but added Days is such a show rich in history, she is proud to be on it and is looking forward to her storyline. Smith opened up and said that he is looking forward to working with Guy Wilson, who took over the role of Will Horton. "Guy is great and talented and I can't wait until the audience gets to see us work. You will not be disappointed."

Bryan Datillo and Eric Martsolf (Days of our Lives) (c)Soapdom/LMS

Between my sips of coffee more stars kept coning. This time was Bryan Dattilo (Lucas) and Eric Martsolf (Brady). Datillo cheered that he is surprised to still be a part of show after so many years. "I grew up on this show. I love it! It's my life. And seeing the fans appreciate my work makes this day special," he said. Eric Martsolf talked about his love of playing Brady, but admitted he's like to see Eileen Davidson (Kristen) back, saying he misses her. "I loved working with her. She is so talented." (His wish came through. She just resigned and will be back in summer).

Mary Beth Evan (Kayla) said being a Brady has changed her life. "I too have been her for years, but I'm so proud. Just think the 50th anniversary of the show is coming up. Wow!", she said. James Reynolds (Abe) is also thrilled. Who would of thought? "I feel like I am part of this history. What a run! What a show!" he shouted.

As the day came to a close, the actors said their goodbyes to the fans, including little Lauren Boles (Ciara), who told the people she loves her job. (Must add is adorable). The audience got a big charge from the young talented girl. The actors waved, hugged fans, and still posed for pictures. Then the wrap-up was back to Samba's Restaurant for a goodbye to the press, each other, and hugs and kisses. A Day of Days to remember. I sure will. Having come in from Chicago, this was my first, and I must say I can't wait until the next.

Jeff Barlow of San Francisco said it best. "I have been a fan for years. After seeing this event, I will continue to be. Days of our Lives rocks!!!"
