Believe it or not, my cyber soap fan friends. it's time again for the Daytime Emmy process to begin.  

The call for entries and judging registration for the 40th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards (to be awarded in 2013) went out from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences early this month.  Entrants have until January 14, 2013 to submit their paperwork and payment.  

"We encourage you to complete your paperwork as soon as possible," NATAS emailed to the daytime contingent. "DVDs/QuickTime Files/URLs and Supporting Materials will be submitted at later dates depending on the categories enterred."

NATAS informs us that there are a number of new categories for 2013, including Outstanding Culinary Host, Outstanding Travel Program, Outstanding Host of a Travel Program, Outstanding Directing in a Lifestyle/Culinary/Travel Program and Outstanding Pre-School Animated Program.

Additional important dates:

January 18, 2013: Deadline for Drama Performer Judges to Register
January 25, 2013: Deadline for Drama Performer Pre-Nom Clip Submissions
January 30, 2013: Deadline for all other Judges to Register
January 30, 2013:  Drama Performer Pre-Nomination Judging Begins
February 4, 2013:  DVD Submissions Due
February 11, 2013: Preliminary Round Judging Begins (Ballots Emailed)
February 27, 2013: Drama Performer Pre-Nominations Announced
March 27, 2013: Blue Ribbon Judging Begins
April 22, 2013: Blue Ribbon Judging Ends
May 1, 2013: Nominations Announced
