Life looks up for Gloria, there's some new faces in town, and Zara is sent packing.

Christel Kahlil (Lily Winters, Young & the Restless)

Did Victoria leave her backbone in Clear Springs last year? Since the disaster she has done nothing but whine. I couldn’t believe it when she learned of Zara’s plan to sell wedding photos to the tabloids and she turned to Nick and Phyllis for advice on what to do. The old Victoria would have snatched that camera and smashed it. If Victoria doesn’t snap out of this self-pity phase I fear she is going to loose the best man that she has been married to. How much more of Victoria’s self-inflicted dramas can JT really endure?

I loved Nikki’s strong empowering take on her life, then all that she had built up was broken down when David left her. I’m just not buying her devastation, it’s not some of Melody Scott Thomas’ best work. She was tempted by a drink Thursday, she resisted but are rougher waters be ahead, maybe a nervous breakdown? Nikki hasn’t played crazy yet so I’m in favor of it, and can see for Nikki where that could be in store. Victor and Sabrina flaunting their new marriage and baby around town on top of David gambling compulsively, and Jill‘s constant nagging would be enough to send anyone over the edge if they were already emotionally raw.

If David were a true addict, or heck even just a social gambler he would have been placing bets on how long Victor and Sabrina’s marriage would last. Nikki and the kids would have probably got in on that action.

Adam redeemed himself somewhat in my eyes this week when he sent Zara packing no if’s, and’s, or but’s. I was proud of Victoria too for giving Adam his due for taking up for their father. Victor’s treatment of everyone in his life personal or professional, since the blossoming of his relationship with his new wife, is in dire need of some chaos and trouble so I would not have minded seeing Zara sock it to the newly weds.

On to a woman who stays empowered glorious Gloria. She may be down but I don’t think Gloria can ever be out. The break up and make up routine may finally be over after this week, for her and Jeffrey. I was beginning to get frustrated as they kissed and fought earlier in the week, but Friday proved to be fun. Now let’s hope the powers that be allow them to blissfully enjoy their love and have some fun. I loved seeing them laugh and play without someone having an ulterior motive , Friday. The chemistry between Glo & Jeff’s portrayers is great, I like them together much better than Gloria with John or William.

I’m excited about the future for Gloria and Jeffrey but the developing storyline surrounding Michael’s search for his father makes me beg….Please don’t make us sit through another Baldwin facing criminal charges that Michael will have to defend. I’m not against Michael finding his father, but did they have to make this into yet another criminal Baldwin?

Victor and Sabrina must have had the shortest honeymoon on record. The flight time to and from took longer than their time in Paris. What was that all about. Y&R went to the trouble of finding a new set for the hotel and some shots of Paris, they show a few minutes of Sabrina and Victor making everyone sick with their lovey dovey cuddling then they are back in Genoa City? I’m not complaining actually because I was not cherishing the idea of having to watch them visit anymore hideous modern art museums while Victor acts like Sabrina is the most profound woman in the world. On the upside of this storyline rumor is starting to get around that Sabrina may be exactly what some have speculated. A gold-digger. I’m hoping this concept propelled forward. I’m certainly ready to see Sabrina, and frankly Victor too, fall from their high-horse.

I was excited when Jack and Nick teamed up with their wives to create a magazine, but I am so past this concept now. I’m beginning to side with Victor on this, I’m ready to see the whole thing go under. I simply cannot believe that this business was created and built by four adults who had come out of years of working as executives for international companies. I would have expected the bickering and childish picking and crying if Daniel and Amber owned Restless Style. Amber may flitter around annoying Phyllis but she is more professional than her bosses.

I hate what Young & the Restless has done with the character of Amber since her move to Genoa City. She was quirky and scheming on Bold & the Beautiful, but tolerable and enjoyable to watch. I was hoping to see her return to LA and give Phoebe and Ashley Abbott a run for their money with Rick.

Jack fantasized Thursday of being back at the helm of Jabot once again. Was that a teaser of something to come? It’s time for Jack to be back where he was born to be, head of Jabot. In Jack’s personal life I am left wonder why exactly there is the sudden need to remodel a house that is not hers and never will be technically? Jack offered so many times for her to remodel when they had nothing else to do with their time, but she waits until they are trying to get a business off the ground to focus on interior design.

This week gave us Lily’s birthday again, seems like just a month or two ago the Winters’ were celebrating the same event. Lily was happy and care-free, finally. Not even Chloe could put a damper on the evening, and she tried. After a lavish Mexican vacation she received from Cane in a fun and creative packaging that sickened Chloe with it’s cuteness, the biggest surprise was Aunt Tara and Cousin Anna popping in. I’m not talking Lily’s aunt and cousin, Devon’s. Lily just loves Anna after being serenaded with a special birthday song, but Neil has his doubts about Tara’s sudden arrival and intentions.

Not sure yet how I feel about this new addition to the Young & the Restless character line-up, but my initial reaction is I hope this is trouble not romantic rivalry for Karen. There is just something sweet and sad about Karen. I know how this goes in the soap world, Dru will return and destroy Neil and Karen’s happiness but she deserves to be happy and make Neil happy in the mean time, without trouble from Devon‘s aunt. To go ahead and throw it there as of this moment (anything can happen to change someone’s opinion of a character) I am going to root for Karen to prevail over Dru upon her return.
