Now that ABC has announced the departure of Brian Frons in January 2012 when his contract expires, fans and journalists alike are speaking out about the news. We've gathered some representative comments from the twitterverse, Facebook and from www.Soapdom.com.
From what we can tell, there is no love lost as a result of this news. In fact, one of our twitterers tweeted yesterday, even before the announcement was made...

Unfortunately Brian Frons' exit changes nothing. AMC and OLTL are still gone, GH is still in danger and his bosses are still there

MOST HATED MAN IN TV: BRIAN FRONS
soapsindepthabc
You know what I'd have taken as great news? Frons out... and Valentini in as the new head of daytime. Not some reality-based chick.
From www.Soapdom.com's article on Brian Frons leaving ABC
Lola: Good riddance. i knew it was only a matter of time. cya. not gonna miss ya.
Michelle B: Thank goodness. Now, I can stop puking.
Funneebonz: I don't like to bad mouth another TV exec…but this guy had to go. Not only was he reviled by fans, actors didn't think too highly of him either, and from what I am reading today, neither did producers and writers. I am with Linda. Think twice before hiring Frons, all you prospective employers out there. He's probably leaving a very rich man. Time for him to fade into the distance, the far, far, far distance.
And Soapdom's own editorializing: "don't let the door hit you on the way out."
UPDATED, December 4th: Actors tweet about Brian Frons leaving ABC Daytime!
Catherine Hickland (Lindsay, One Life to Live): "Ding Dong the Warlock is dead ;) Karma, baby! Too bad he had to take down two stellar shows before being taken down himself." Also, "Brian, Which part don't you understand? The Buh, or the BYE??" And finally closing with "'stepped down' yeah....that's it. He 'stepped down.' WHATEVER."
Bradford Anderson (Spinelli, General Hospital): 'Friday night. Two bosses gone in two days. Two glasses of wine??"
Steve Burton (Jason, General Hospital) "Craziness here, today. :0 We will see what happens. Thanks for all u guys do for us. Stay positive."
Chrishell Strause (Amanda, All My Children) "Cryptic tweet for those in the know: Ding Dong the da da daaa.... ;)"
Maurice Benard (Sonny, General Hospital) "I think that there is truly a light at the end of the tunnel with GH. Let's keep on fighting and keep this show on the air."
Hillary B. Smith (Nora, One Life to Live): "I was thrilled that ABC finally woke up, but saddened that it was after so much demolition of the ABC line up." And also, "Just keep watching. Ratings speak volumes! They still have Soapnet."
Kimberly McCullough (Robin, General Hospital): "Oh the times, they are a-changin"
Cady McClain (Dixie, All My Children): "Frons quits? Something about the timing of this is interesting"
And this, from a former employee, Nicholas Coster (Mayor Jack Madison, The Bay; Lionel Lockridge, Santa Barbara, and a film/TV resume far to long to note here: "sorry to be sappy, but he was always nice to me...accepted suggestions about Santa Barbara and long after those days were gone, he (unlike some -ex-producer of SB now on long running soap), answered my phone call, not that long ago...I wish him well...."
