The Cosmetic Surgery Habits of the Stars

E-mail Print PDF

Galen Gering (Rafe, Days of our Lives)It feels like we never stop hearing about celebrity cosmetic surgery. Whether it's Galen Gering or Kelly Monaco, every day we hear about new celebrities going under the knife, and new operations that we didn't even know existed.

While the most famous examples of cosmetic surgery are the ones that end in disaster, most end up just fine. You might think the star looks better, or even different, but you can't quite put your finger on why.

They might not be for everyone, but nose jobs are the most common type of cosmetic surgery among soap stars. Kirsten Storms, Brandon Beemer and so many others are long considered to have had rhinoplasty. The best work will usually leave you with a general sense that the person looks more attractive, but without feeling absolutely certain that they have had work done. Often this will become even more obvious when you look at an old photo a few months or years later. If the person's face now looks so much more attractive, for no obvious reason, there's a good chance they've been under the knife. A closer before-and-after comparison will usually reveal the results.

Laser liposuction is also a very popular procedure. Just look for Laser Liposuction Kansas City for an indication of how the market is developing. Studies have shown that patients generally recover more quickly than with traditional liposuction, making it ideal for our busiest soap stars.

"Laser liposuction uses lasers to liquefy the fat before it is removed, making it easier to vacuum out via liposuction. Lasers may also stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, which results in firmer, tighter, and smoother skin. Lasers may also coagulate small blood vessels in the area, which translates to less bruising," writes WebMD. "In one study, patients had laser liposuction on one side of their abdomen and traditional liposuction on the other side. They had more elasticity on the laser side at three months than on the side with traditional liposuction."

It is always difficult to know when exercise ends and when cosmetic surgery begins. Stars are known to work out hard, but they are not afraid to undergo surgery when they need results fast. One great example of this is the male chest. It can be difficult to know who has been hitting the gym and who has gotten pectoral implants. Male stars are regularly combining laser liposuction and pectoral implants at the same time. The first gives them a six-pack by removing excess fat, while the latter gives them more definition and presence.

Female breast implants are, of course, just as popular as ever. However, we are now starting to see stars choosing to be subtler with their implants, and some are even getting their breast size reduced. "After breast augmentation, Kelly [Monaco] parlayed her time in Playboy to appearing on General Hospital and winning the first season of Dancing with the Stars. As her breasts have appeared slightly smaller, she is rumored to have reduced the size of her implants, or removed them," writes Make Me Heal.
