Legendary Chicago disk jockey, Connie Szerszen, talks to Soapdom on her love for the soaps.

Known to Chicago audiences for her antics and one-liners and labeled "Top Rock Girly Jock," and "The Polish Princess," Connie Szerszen decided to pen a book on her life.

Szerszen became acquainted with the soaps and probably has John Schneider (Dukes of Hazard) to thank. "I did an interview with John when he was in Chicago in the 80's, and I fell in love," Szerszen said. "He was so dreamy and cute. I fell head over heels. They don't come any better."

When Schneider landed the role on Loving, where he played Larry Lamont, Szerszen was hooked. "I'll tell you...I couldn't get my eyes off the screen, but beside that, that is where I discovered my love for the soaps and the ongoing storylines. I feel you learn a lot from these shows."

Her life has indeed been interesting... She hunted Elvis down in a Chicago hotel, had a date with Neil Diamond, and partied with Elton John and Stevie Nicks to name a few.

She also lost "That ABC Gig" to Oprah, and The Chicago Sun-Times made her the cover story calling her, "The Woman who Invented Strip Radio.".And she is written into the U.S. Congressional Record.

The book has over 200 photos and is packed with memorabilia, and yes! There's even a blurb about yours truly and a mention of www.Soapdom.com.

"This is something I wanted to do for a long time, write this book," Szerszen revealed. "It was a journey, but well worth it. You learn a lot when you write about yourself," Szerszen said. "Oh yes! The only difference in my life from a soap is that I never risked marriage (came close) and remained free, just in case Mr. Right should come along."
