Soapdom, our staff and site members would like to send Get Well wishes and a speedy recovery to Jeanne Cooper, (Katherine Chancellor) of the Young and Restless.
Cooper, who is 84 years-old, was taken to a Los Angeles hospital Friday evening, and is reported to be suffering from an infection. According to her son, actor Corbin Bernsen (Psych), who posted on Twitter that his mom needs a lot of prayers and is not doing well, but some days shows improvements.
Bernsen has also been keeping friends and fans apprised of his mom's condition via his Facebbok page. His post today shows his deep concern for his mother, his thankfulness at the outpouring of support from fans, and his thoughts and prayers for those affected by the bombings in Boston yesterday.
"Flight back to Florida delayed but allowed time for me to get news of HUGE improvements with my mom. Breathing apparatus has been removed, she's alert and now we're moving onto underlying issues. (Breathing was secondary but had to be dealt with first) This is truly becoming an extraordinary example of human resilience and the communal power of positive energy. While we are far from done with this - and I've been told to be cautious in my thinking that - the hurdles that have been jumped by my mom, fueled by your prayers and well wishes and love, support so much of what I've come to believe and have been trying to share in the last few years.
"Now we must turn that to Boston and those directly affected by what has happened. Please keep my mom in your thoughts, but reach out to others and let's build this incredible force and spread your love and prayers between her and those needing it most today. You do make a difference. I know it sounds silly to some, but I for one believe!"
Cooper, who like her character, Katherine Chancellor on The Young and the Restless, is a fighter through and through. She has a zest for life and loves living each day. Her famous words are "If you don't use it, you loose it." Having recently published her memoir, the title speaks for itself "Not Young, Still Restless."
Cooper celebrated her 40th anniversary along with the show, and in those 40 years she has dazzled audiences with her grace, elegance, charm, and wisdom. Here's to many more years. If anyone can get through this, it is her. GET WELL SOON, Jeanne. And best wishes to her children, Corbin, Collin, and Caren and their families. You are all in Soapdom's thoughts and prayers.
