UPDATED NOVEMBER 22, 2011
Sorry to say, GH fans, Kimberly McCullough is definitely moving on.
Soapdom can now officially confirm yesterday's report that McCullough has opted to leave the soap. This morning, we heard directly from the show's rep after we reached out to him yesterday. His comment is pretty much what we already posted, but here it is in total anyway...
"Kimberly McCullough has decided to pursue her dream of directing full-time so she has decided to leave GENERAL HOSPITAL as storyline dictates. Expect a poignant and must watch storyline for Robin and Patrick."
----
Oh no, say it ain't so! It is being reported that General Hospital's Kimberly McCullough (Robin) is choosing to once again leave the role she created in 1985 when she was only seven years old.
According to SOD, McCullough is stepping away. Although we have not yet confirmed this with our show contacts, reports are noting that the show rep did confirm it, saying that McCullough is leaving the show to direct full time in early 2012. But, "viewers should expect a poignant and must-watch storyline for Robin and Patrick," prior to her exit.
As every die-hard General Hospital fan knows, this is not the first time that McCullough left the role.
From 1995 to 2005 she was missing in action from Port Charles, pursuing other projects, oh like attending college at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts from 1996-97, appearing in primetime series like Joan of Arcadia, Firefly, Once and Again, and ER to name a few. She even appeared as Robin Scorpio on All My Children during this time.
Soapdom will stay on top of this story. We have already reached out to General Hospital and we'll keep you posted. Should McCullough bid adieu to the soap, she joins co-star Jonathan Jackson who is also stepping away from the role of Lucky Spencer, airing in his last episodes before the end of the year.
