As previously reported at www.Soapdom.com, Chandra Wilson will host SOAPnet's live two-hour special from the red carpet on Friday, June 15 from 7-9PM ET/PT. But get this. She will not be hosting alone. SOAPnet's own Ty Treadway, who is an Emmy nominee for his work on the now defunct, "Soap Talk," will join Wilson on the red carpet as co-host.
And this just in as of June 13th -- SOAPnet announces Laura Wright of ABC’s “General Hospital” to join Chandra Wilson and Ty Treadway as co-host of SOAPnet's live two-hour special from the red carpet on Friday, June 15 from 7-9PM ET/PT. Fan favorite Wright, long-time soap fan Wilson, and nominee Treadway will secure the inside scoop, fashion secrets and more from the industry's brightest stars leading up to the Daytime Emmy broadcast on CBS at 9PM ET. Tupelo-Honey will produce the live red carpet show.
Wright stars as the ever-popular vixen Carly Corinthos on ABC’s “General Hospital.” Prior to joining the series in November 2005, Wright’s daytime work included her award-winning role as Cassie Layne on “Guiding Light,” and stints on “Loving” and “The City.” She also co-hosted several episodes of SOAPnet’s “Soap Talk” with fellow host and nominee Treadway in Hawaii last year.
Wilson, who received SAG and Image Awards this year for ABC’s hit drama series “Grey’s Anatomy” as Dr. Miranda Bailey, has numerous television credits including guest starring roles on “The Sopranos,” “Law & Order,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” “Sex and the City,” “100 Centre Street,” ”Third Watch,” and “The Cosby Show.” No stranger to daytime, Wilson also had a recurring role on ABC’s “One Life to Live” and is an accomplished theater actress. The New York Times named her one of “Eight to Watch, Onstage and Behind-the-Scenes” in 2004 for her performance in the George C. Wolfe directed Broadway play “Caroline, or Change.”
Treadway, host of Program Partners and Merv Griffin Entertainment’s upcoming "Merv Griffin's Crosswords" has had numerous successful hosting credits including being the multiple Daytime Emmy nominated host of SOAPnet’s lifestyle talk show “Soap Talk” and a stint as host for “American Idol Extra” for the FOX Reality Channel. He is best known for his role as Drs. Colin and Troy MacIver on ABC Daytime’s “One Life to Live.”
During the red carpet show, viewers will be encouraged to vote via text message for best and worst dressed. Results will be unveiled during “SOAPnet: Daytime Emmys…Unzipped” on Monday, June 18 at 11PM. The post show, hosted by Linda Dano, Julie Pinson and Michael Bruno, recaps who wore what, who won what and who said what.
SOAPnet received its own Daytime Emmy nominations for: Outstanding Talk Show Host for "Soap Talk's" Lisa Rinna and Ty Treadway; Outstanding Achievement in Makeup for "Soap Talk" for Felicia Linsky and Adam Christopher.
