Hot off the broadcast series finale of All My Children, fan favorite, Debbie Morgan (ex Angie, All My Children) debuts on The Young and the Restless on Friday, October 7, 2011. For weeks, the folks at Y&R have kept very mum about her character, but the news is now out!
Soapdom has just learned that Morgan will play the role of "Harmony," Devon's (Bryton James) errant mother, formerly known as Yolanda, and she is more than looking forward to the challenge.
In a clever promotional clip, Bryton James (Devon) interviews Morgan and takes us Inside the Bubble of her new role on Y&R.
First up, James asks Morgan what the biggest difference was between playing Angie on All My Children and playing Harmony on Y&R.
"Oh my goodness," she said. "My role on All My Children was like Mother Earth -- Earth Mother. But Harmony, she's gone a whole different path than Angie. She's had a lot of different struggles in her life. Angie came up in a great family, she is very bright, intelligent. I think Yolanda may get there one day, but she has a long way to go."
"Have you been enjoying yourself working here, though?" James next asks Morgan.
"I have. I have to say that being on All My Children and the show airing for 41 years, it's really sad to leave that, but it is so good to step into a new pair of shoes. I've watched Young and the Restless for years. Never, ever thought that I would be here playing your mother. I am really excited," enthused Morgan.
"I have to tell you and the fans that it is a privilege and honor to have Ms. Debbi Morgan playing my mother. Just to be on the same stage with you is…."
"Now you're making me cry," cooed Morgan.
Soapdom is delighted that Morgan has found her way to Genoa City. Just how Devon will take to his mom this go round remains to be seen. Stay tuned.
