As a daytime newcomer, True O'Brien is making her mark as Paige Larson on Days of our Lives. Not only radiantly beautiful, but the character has a quality about her that is immediately relatable to a lot of young people.
"Yes! And what's funny is I can relate to her, too," O'Brien said. "Paige is a lot of fun to play. I can relate to her desire and her wanting to be a serious student, and in the storyline her first love with JJ (Casey Moss). She is someone I'd like to let into my life."
O'Brien said that working on a show like Days of our Lives is "way beyond words" can describe. Recalling her first day on the set was frightening to put it mildly. "Oh my God! First, it was the whole environment. I know nothing, and yet here I am," O'Brien explains. "The cast and crew have been so supportive. It is just an amazing place to be. It is a fast moving train that is really well run."
O'Brien auditioned for the role of Paige and just went in and had fun, saying that she screen tested with Casey Moss, with whom she adores working. "I was on the treadmill the next day and my manager called and said that I got the job," she said. "I was like jumping up and down, but I still finished my treadmill -- only with more energy."
O'Brian has done some notable things in the business, like appearing along side Justin Beiber in a perfume campaign. "I was with him in a poster. I was his second girlfriend," O'Brien said. "I really enjoyed working with him, he was real nice."
O'Brien worked again a second time with the Biebs. She said that several years ago she shot a video with him when no one knew who he was. She gushes that she was an extra in the video and when she did the poster shoot with him, he remembered her.
O'Brien started in the business at five years-old. The native Californian said she always had a desire and her mother got her started in television commercials and things just led on. Her younger cousin is Hailee Steinfeld, who has appeared in films like Summer Camp to name a few and is currently filming Pitch Perfect 2 with a 2015 release.
O'Brien loves to cook and eat healthy and added that she loves to work out and is into yoga, kickboxing, and enjoys resistance training. "I feel that all of these are great stress releasers and yet such fun to do," she said.
In her spare time, she enjoys making collages, going to the beach, and watching movies, and said that someday one of her goals is to go to college, calling herself a "very academic type of person."
Soapdom just had to ask...how did the name True come about? "(Laughing) OK! Honestly, my mom was going through a book of baby names and that is the truth how True came about," O'Brien said. "However, if you were to ask my dad, he wants to take credit. My dad is a graphic designer and worked on the poster for True Lies and he will say he takes full responsibility."
Many fans have taken note about her gorgeous hair and O'Brien was like...What! "I have to tell you, I do nothing out of the ordinary. I use standard shampoo and conditioners. I actually have some frizzy hair that I use the conditioner to tame it down, but I thank you all."
O'Brien's goals are to remain working in the business, someday would love to branch into feature films, but said that she loves where she is at right now, and hopes that her character on Days of our Lives will grow and possibly extend into a family, because at present, she is just the college student that popped into Salem, but stay tuned! One never knows what's in store on the soaps.
In the meantime, be sure to follow the action and Paige's antics as they develop. We can bet you'll enjoy the ride.
