Soapdom is very saddened to report that James Mitchell (1920-2010), who played the machiavelian Palmer Cooney Cortland on All My Children, died Friday, January 22, 2010 in Los Angeles of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, complicated by pneumonia. Soapdom can now confirm that the rumors are true! It's a done deal. Emmy Award-winning writing team, David Kreizman and Donna Swajeski, are taking over the top writing slots at All My Children. In a true soaplike turn of events, Swajeski returns to her roots, having first started her career at All My Children alongside series creator, Agnes Nixon.
