Julia Barr (Brooke, All My Children)Brooke's back!

The Online Network announced today that two-time Daytime Emmy Winner, Julia Barr will return to the beloved serial drama All My Children, set to debut later this spring.

Barr will reprise her role as Brooke English, the character for which she has garnered Two Daytime Emmy Awards for Best Supporting Actress along with eight nominations.

All My Children fans will remember the character of Brooke to be the constant nemisis of Erica Kane (the character played by Susan Lucci for over 40 years). Always at odds with each other over love interests, business interests, and life in general, the antics of these two formidable characters were fan favorites.  How many ladies room catfights can you recall?

With Barr signing on the dotted line, can Lucci be far behind?  We can only hope.  We do know that Prospect Park's The Online Network has Lucci on their radar.  We will keep you posted.

As fans know, in an announcement earlier this year, Prospect Park's The Online Network revealed its plans to re-introduce the beloved franchise, through a groundbreaking content deal that will bring premium first-run, broadcast-quality programming to a mass market audience via the Internet.

Brand new 30-minute episodes of All My Children will be launched each weekday and available to stream online via the free Hulu.com service and to subscribers of Hulu Plus making these venerable dramas available in a new format that suits the viewing habits of the digital generation .

In addition, the iTunes Store will offer both series via iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Apple TV and Mac or PC.

Previously announced All My Children cast members include: Darnell Williams (Jesse Hubbard), Debbi Morgan (Dr. Angela Hubbard), Vincent Irizarry (Dr. David Hayward), Lindsay Hartley (Cara Martin), Jordi Vilasuso (Griffin Castillo), Jill Larson (Opal Cortlandt), and Thorsten Kaye (Zach Slater).

Additional casting details will be announced in the coming weeks.  Stay tuned.

Soapers ~ a movement, a philosophy, a new book

When ABC announced the cancellation of long time fan favorite soap operas All My Children and One Life to Live in the spring of 2011, all havoc broke loose. Passionate fans took to the internet, boycotted ABC's advertisers, called for the firing of then ABC Daytime head, Brian Frons (who spearheaded the cancellations), picketed the studio, did anything and everything they possibly could to let the network know just how unhappy they were with the network's decision to dump their continuing stories for the more cost efficient lifestyle and talk shows that were to replace the soaps.

One such loyal fan, Flo DiBona, has chronicled the events of this tumultuous time in her new book, Soapers.
