One harried family gets a little elfish assistance this Christmas on Hallmark Channel's "Help for the Holidays"

Summer Glau ("Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles") travels from the North Pole to Los Angeles to lend a helping hand when she stars with Eva La Rue ("All My Children," "CSI: Miami"), Dan Gauthier ("One Life to Live") and John Brotherton ("Jane By Design") in the Hallmark Channel Original Movie World Premiere "Help for the Holidays," Sunday, December 9 (8p.m. ET/PT, 7C).

In the film, also starring young talent Izabela Vidovic ("Christmas Angel") and Mason Cook ("Spy Kids: All the Time in the World"), Glau stars as one of Santa's hard-working elves who's enthusiasm for Christmas is contagious when she goes on a special assignment as a new nanny for a family in desperate need of a holiday makeover.

Although she loves Christmas, Santa's elf Christine (Glau) wonders if there could be more to life than making toys in the North Pole. When Santa receives an emergency wish from a little boy in Los Angeles, he puts Christine on a special assignment, sending her to L.A. to give the VanCamp family—mom Sara (La Rue), dad Scott (Gauthier), and their two kids Ally (Vidovic) and Will (Cook)—a holiday wake-up call. While Sara and Scott run their booming holiday store, Will and Ally are often left unsupervised. The kids long for a true family Christmas, with a tree and lights of their own instead of the holiday leftovers from their parents' store.

Christine quickly interviews to be the kids' new nanny, hoping to secretly transform their sad Christmas spirit into a loving family celebration. Christine thinks she has it all under control and might even be falling in love. But when Sara suspects her new nanny is interfering too much, she threatens to end Christine's stay in L.A. Will Christine fail her assignment and be sent back to the North Pole for good, or will the VanCamps come to their senses about the meaning of Christmas?

Find out December 9th when you tune in to "Help for the Holidays" (8p.m. ET/PT, 7C) on Hallmark Channel.
