Blake Berris (Nick, Days of our Lives) (c)NBCAs the "twisted" character of Nick Fallon on Days of our Lives, one never knows what to expect, or what is lurking in that "deep thoughts" look. But for Emmy nominated Blake Berris, playing the role is fun, and he loves the challenge of not knowing what is up next.

"I have to tell you...I love this character. The writers' have done a great job resurrecting him," Berris said. The character gets more interesting and more bizarre each episode, and I love it that way."

Berris admitted that when he picks up the script, he is always excited in seeing just what old Nick is up to. He is a member of the Horton clan, son to Jessica and Joshua Fallon. He surfaced a few years ago all grown up and as a shady dark guy terrorizing poor Melanie (Molly Burnett). He was carted off to prison and is now back.

On the other hand...poor Melanie now left town to get away from actually a romance with Chad (Casey Dedrick) gone bad, but poor Nick will get the blame that she left because of him.

Berris got a call from the Powers That Be out of the blue to return. "I have not been in touch with anyone. This was a shock," Berris said. "Although I know Greg Meng (executive producer) was sad when I left the first time. I believe he wanted Nick back. So they made me this incredible offer and here I am."

While Berris was away from Days his career was not at a stand still. He was doing film and prime time television, but he also admitted his love for Nick.

"Whatever the writers, write I try to make believable. It's all fascinating and original," Berris explained. "I really want to see Nick go in a lot of directions."

Berris jokingly said that being "off the wall" is fun to play. He would also like to see the writers explore Schizophrenia, a condition that is is no stranger to.  Berris' revealed that his mother suffers from the illness.

"Oh yes! I want to explore Nick's state of mind. I think what would be neat is to get Nick in therapy with Marlena (Deidre Hall). That would really be interesting."

Soapdom asked Berris if he had anything he would like to say to the fans?

"Just that they are the most loyal fan base. They carry the show on their backs, and I have love and appreciation for that. Oh Yes! Look for Nick to get interesting. Great stuff is in the making."
